'Sandspiel', a box garden game where you can create strata with free graffiti feeling & reproduce natural phenomena

" Sandspiel " is a game that can create terrain based on various materials such as sand, water, and lava in a boxy garden prepared on a web browser. Sandspiel can simulate natural phenomena such as gravity and airflow on a dot unit while it is crisp and light, and you can play for free.

You can see how "Sandspiel" can actually be played by seeing the following movie in one shot.

I tried playing "Sandspiel" to lay up sand and water on the box garden on the browser to create a stratum - YouTube

When you access "Sandspiel", the screen like this will appear.

The part hitting the operation palette is displayed in the upper right of the screen. The second row "Empty" to "Wind" corresponds to the material of the so-called brush, and their characteristics are as follows.
· Empty (blank) ...... Anything will be scraped off.
· Wall (wall) ...... It can not be broken except by blank.
· Sand (sand) ... falls down under gravity and sinks into the water.
· Water (water) ...... Falls down under gravity and turns off the fire.
· Stone (stone) ...... It falls down according to gravity, unlike sand, you can also make an arch, but you can break by pressure.
· Ice (ice) ... When installed so as to touch the water, water freezes out from the contact point.
· Gas (gas) ...... It floats fluffily with gas, it is very easy to burn.
· Cloner (clone) ...... Copy the material that you first touched.
· Mite (tick) ...... It falls under the gravity and eats the touched trees and plants. Also, since dust is my favorite food, I will eat it in a flash.
· Wood (wood) .... Although it is sturdy, it will be eaten by mites.
· Plant (plant) ... breeding in places with water.
· Fungus (fungus) ... breed and spread to all materials.
· Seed (seed) ... It grows on the sand and makes flowers bloom.
· Fire ... will burn.
· Lava (lava) ... It burns things just like fire, but it will sink according to gravity like sand and stone.
· Acid (acid) ...... It falls under the gravity and melts other materials.
· Dust ( ... ) If a fire or lava is nearby it burns as if it explodes with its heat.
· Oil (petroleum) ... ... When you start a fire, it will burn a lot of smoke.
· Firework (fireworks) ... ... When you start to fire, it will change to the material you first touched while exploding.
· Wind (wind) ... winds up the wind and blows things away.

When you drag the mouse cursor in the pink garden, the material appears in that place.

Because water, sand, stone etc drops according to gravity, we will stack up as a layer under the box garden.

Using sand, stone and water, somehow something like an island was completed.

I grew plants on the right side of the island and I shed lava from the summit of the island center ......

Lava touched plants and burned.

Next I tried to petroleum on the right side of the island.

After a while, the lava slowly flowed out, touched oil and ignited. Black smoke rises from the sea of oil.

In the blink of an eye the right side of the island is on a great flame. Looking at the movement of the smoke, you can see that rising air current is generated by the fire.

Actually sand was covered from the top of the fire, the sand flutt up by the ascending air current, and it will not fall easily beneath. Also, wind is generated from the right to the left, the sand on the island collapses to the left, and the plants on the left are also blown off.

I tried a large amount of dust that this time it will explode soon.

The moment the flame smoldering on the right side of the island ignited the dust, it caused a big explosion.

If you push the pause button at the top left of the control pallet, the material falling down due to gravity will not fall and flammable materials such as wood and dust will not burn even if you touch the fire.

In the following movie, I wrote letters of "G" with sand while pausing and colored with various materials and tried what happens when playing.

In addition, "Sandspiel" is developed by Rust and WebGL , and the source code is published on GitHub .
