Twitter has tweeted that it has designed a new user interface (UI) for PC web browser sites and tested it with some users. In the new UI, it supports " bookmark function " officially adopted in March, 2018, power saving mode by data save, night mode. It also means that the operation is also faster than the previous one.

In the new UI, although the configuration that was vertical 3 columns was changed to vertical 2 columns, there are no particularly large changes in other parts.

"Bookmarks (bookmark)", "Data Saver (data save mode)" "Night Mode (nighttime mode)" are added to the appearing menu bar when the user's icon is clicked. The new UI is tested first, and it seems that only a few selected users can use it.

The new UI for the PC site is almost the same as that adopted for mobile.twitter.com which is the mobile Web interface of Twitter. Also, the same UI will be adopted for Twitter application for Windows 10.

About unification of these UIs Ars Technica of foreign media says that Twitter is progressing the introduction of Progressive Web App (PWA). In fact, Twitter released the mobile site " Twitter Lite " compatible with PWA, and in May 2018 the application for Windows 10 was updated to correspond to PWA.

Also on September 3, 2018 Twitter's Jacques Dossey has tweeted that it is considering adopting "messaging-like features" such as user's online status notification and reply hierarchy, and Twitter Suggests the possibility of developing it as a communication application that can be utilized on mobile from web services. Expanding adoption of PWA technology will greatly change the deployment of smartphone applications and web services.
