Doubling the advertisement in the start menu of Windows 10

Microsoft plans to offer "Anniversary Update" which will become a large update around the summer of 2016. Addition of new functions such as fingerprint authentication has been announced in the update, but it became clear that it also includes contents saying "It doubles the number of advertisement applications displayed in the start menu".

The Windows developer community site conference that was held the other day "WinHEC 2016"The slide used by the presentation by Microsoft's Principal Program Manager Jessie Labayen has been released. The slide explains the new function called "Programmable Tiles" which increases the number of advertisement applications and links displayed on the Windows 10 start menu.


In the current Windows 10 start menu, five advertisement tiles are displayed with two downloaded applications and three sheets linked to the Windows Store.


If the new function is applied, the advertisement application frame of the start menu will be 10 images. Some of the ten sheets are pre-installed applications and include a link to the Windows Store. The displayed application will be different depending on the country.
