◆ Complex Facility for Cyclists "ONOMICHI U2"
It is "ONOMICHI U 2" located on the Honshu side of such Shimanami Kaido. It was originally born as a complex facility for cyclists, especially renovating the building which was used as a warehouse of the port.

First of all check in to the hotel 'HOTEL CYCLE'. Since it is only for cyclists, there is also a cycle stand in front of the counter so it is possible to check in while riding a bicycle.


HOTEL CYCLE is a facility occupying approximately one-third of the space of ONOMICHI U2. It was strangely constructed that a hotel of 2 floors was built in the building. The interior illuminated with downlight is pretty stylish atmosphere.


The hotel room also has a stylish atmosphere full marks. The deluxe twin room of relaxed size was like this. The interior was set to be dark.

◆ Departure for Shimanami Kaido the next morning
In the morning, many cyclists gathered around ONOMICHI U2.


On the day we visited the interview, a stamp rally event "Shimanami Vertical Run 2015" was held to traverse Shimanami Kaido.


An event that you can get a souvenir if you get a stamp with 15 points plus one checkpoint. It was a fun event to raise up the cycling sacred place.

◆ Go to the sacred site of the cyclist "Shimanami Kaido"
The start to Shimanami Kaido is from the place which crosses Mukojima by going to the ship. Many cyclists were making rows just during the event.

I arrived at the "Inoshima Ohashi" which is the first bridge.


Running on Shimanami Kaido, it is not an exaggeration to say that it is a challenge to many slopes. However, there is no steep slope that will break your heart, so even beginners can get a moderate fatigue feeling.

On this day I will abandon my goal to Imabari for the convenience of time and go back to the way I came. It was the moment I vowed to reveal the form of the Innoshi Ohashi taking the setting sun.
