Before leaving Japan temporarily, we ordered a lot of bicycle parts on the Internet.
The reason for setting the arrow of bulls from the abundant lineup of Doppelganger is "202 blackmax"A long-selling item called. To make it a touring bicycle, the theme was weight reduction and speeding up.
· Because I was planning to run a long distance, even a folding bike the size of the wheel is 20 inches.
· I wanted to make the bottom bracket as an enamel, so check the shell width.
· Quick release of front and rear wheels.
· Because there was also the possibility of replacing the saddle, the saddle clamp is integrated with the seat post, not the tower.

◆ Breaking the arriving bicycle
When I went back to the country for the first time in two years from Thailand, the bicycle had already arrived.

◆ Bottom bracket made into a hollow tech
I will remodel it quickly. The first thing I started was to exchange the BB (bottom bracket) which can be said as the heart of the bicycle. Horo Tec is a crank mechanism developed by bicycle parts maker Shimano to increase rigidity, the shaft shaft part of BB is a hollow. The right crank and the BB shaft are integrated, passing through the hollow BB, connecting directly with the left crank makes it an efficient mechanism that suppresses transmission loss of force. It was also lightweight, it helped to speed up, and it was a place where the wheeling was convenient.
The crank can be easily detached with a cotterless extraction tool.
However, the next cassette type BB does not bask in the hand-held extraction tool and the monkey wrench. We will order Asahi Metal Industry's single-ended glasses wrench 32 mm in Amazon.
Although I can remove the left one with this glasses wrench, the right one does not matter whether it is right or not. I could not move even if I got on the tip of the glasses wrench's handle and dedicated the whole weight.
When removing BB, you can grasp only with the extraction tool, so fix the iron stay in and fix it.
Based on the information on the Internet, I bought an iron pipe with a length of 900 mm at the home center, stretched the handle of the glasses wrench and took the strategy to remove it with the lever principle. When you put your strength together with your wishes, you feel a gnit in your hands. No, Iron pipe seems to lose ... ....
Take a deep breath and calm down, change the angle of the iron pipe, put the force back in. So BB loosened at last. If you move even a little, you can remove it with the thrusul afterwards.

Here we install Shimano's crankset DEORE FC-M590.
The BB of VP, BB 73 was a genuine product.
This is Horo Tech's BB.
The original crankset was 589 g. Because it is 274 g of genuine BB, it weighs 863 g with two.
The DEORE crankset to be replaced has three gears.
However, since I thought that single gear was enough this time, I left only one of the 32T center gears. This crankset is 525 g, BB is 86 g, and when it is 2, it is 611 g. We succeeded in lighter weight of 252 g from genuine products.
In making the gear a single gear, pile two center gears. I wanted to fix one center gear and washer with chain ring bolt, but it stopped because it seems to be loose as a luggage. There seems to be a part called Bashguard, but to divert the center gear which was planned to be disposed.
When you install the crankset on the bicycle, it will look like this. The long haul tracker that crossed the Americas was mainly 32T center gear, so I thought folding bikes were enough, but as I ran it, the pedal was light and the speed did not rise. The wheel was reduced from 26 inches to 20 inches and the distance traveled by one revolution of the pedal became shorter, so we had to calculate the gear ratio neatly.
Although the weight did not change as much as the difference, I wanted to emphasize the driving speed, so change the pedal from genuine to PD-M520 for binding.
By making BB a hollow tech, it was easy to remove the crank, and the circle with the airplane was also smooth. With this method, you do not need to carry Pedalspana, so it's handy for traveling abroad.
◆ Rear derailleur seven speeds to nine speed
I changed the sprocket to nine speed when changing the wheel, so it was necessary to adjust the rear derailleur as well.
Because there is no mounting base on the frame, the genuine rear derailleur has a nail attached. I was puzzled by the shape of the end different from mountain bike.

If you use Shimano Y52U90320 small parts, you can install a 9-speed rear derailleur on a frame without a pedestal. There is a protrusion on the back of this part, but it was an obstruction to attach directly to the dowel hole of the frame, so I cut it off with a thread saw.
The 9-speed rear derailleur uses Shimano's ATLUS RD-M370 (9S) which is a low-priced item for the convenience of the budget.
For 9 speeds, I will exchange the chain with CN - HG 53 of Shimano. Instead of passing the chain through the rear derailleur, connect the front gear and the sprocket with the biggest gears. With 2 links added to this state, the link number of the chain is fixed. I cut the extra chain and connected it with a connecting pin.

◆ Wheel the wheel
Genuine products were incompatible with the hub of the front wheel and the hub of the rear wheel was smooth. Both wheels were wheels that were assembled with 28 spokes, but since it is worrying about durability when it comes to overseas touring, I decided to assemble a new wheel. Since the genuine wheel was fixed with a hex nut, it is also a change to the quick release lever which is convenient for maintenance.
Shimano XT is the front hub.
Freehub uses Shimano's Deore.
Rim is Alex's DA-16. Both wheels assembled with 32 spokes.
The minora's runout base, the spark tension meter of the park tool, the center gauge and the tool are aligned, but the wheel assembly which is not accompanied by skill was difficult.
Since the valve hole of the rim was a Buddha type presta valve, the root was often folded, so it was expanded so that a rice type Schroeder valve could be inserted.
The tire wears Schwarbe's MARATHON RACER. Since the paved road will be the main, it is a size of 20 × 1.50.
It is 646 g if it is a front wheel hub, rim and spoke.
The finished front wheel weighs 1134 g.
It becomes 864 g with the hub of the rear wheel, the rim and the spoke.
Shimano XT is introduced for the sprocket.
The finished rear wheel weighs 1698 g.
Because the genuine rear wheel was 1909 g, this was about 200 g weight reduction.
By replacing the hub, the quick release of the front wheels was successful.
Although the rear wheel can also be made into a quick release, as the rear derailleur was replaced, the hub was fixed at the back of the frame as it was configured. Although there is no problem in running, the position of the brake will also shift, so the shoe will also be biased and decreasing, so care must be taken for maintenance.
◆ Custom to detail
The genuine handlebar was 407 g made of steel and seemed to have a little weight.
The handlebar of the bicycle used around Japan circulation was 223 g, so I will exchange it here.
The thread stem which is used not only for the mountain bike's familiar ahead stem but also for the mummy calli was used.
I changed the rear derailleur to nine speeds, so I have to change the shift lever. Shimano's ALTUS grade ST - EF51 9 - speed shifter is ordered. Since the front gear is 1st gear, only one side is used.

The surroundings of the handle are refreshing, there are only the speedometer and GPS pedestal on the left and right levers. Although it was an emphasis on lightweighting, I installed the pedestal because I could not relax the comfort of GPS.
I put the grip for weight reduction.
Sitting comfort of the genuine saddle looked good, but 346 g and weight are concerned.
Because it found 267 g and a cheap saddle with light weight and 1290 yen in Amazon, it is exchanged. When I travel on a bicycle, you are often asked "Does your butt hurt?" However, since I wear cycle pants with cushions, there is no problem even if it is a bit hard.
A genuine saddle and a new saddle. We succeeded in weight saving of 79 g, I was satisfied with a fashionable saddle available.
Regarding the loading platform, I was pretty worried about batting, but somehow I will install the 20-inch rear carrier for the Captain Stag. I fixed the carrier with the dowel hole of the seat post and the quick release of the rear wheel. However, because the length of the quick release lever was incredibly short, we can not recommend this method much. I searched for a longer quick release lever, but I could not find it.

I wanted to reduce the weight, so I will not use the stand. Likewise, I left mudguards.
◆ Folding bike with touring specification
It is finally completed to depart as quickly as possible.
The bicycle main body was 20,399 yen, but it was a cost of 68,884 yen because I added a remodeling. Weight which was pure 12.5 kg was also reduced to 11 kg including rear carriers. Although I had assembled only mountain bike, the folding bike of touring specification finished somehow.

Although it is an impression that I tried running this folding bike, the speed does not come out easily because the gear is light. Even flat roads are subtle whether they can average 20 km per hour or not. Instead, it got stronger on the uphill slope. Also, you do not need to step out after you stop. In the Caribbean countries, emphasis was placed on the island by empty load. After getting down to Tel Aviv in the Middle East Israel, I passed through Jordan and ran the baggage up to the Sinai peninsula in Egypt as before.

On the platform, we load a bag named BC Duffle on North Face. I can carry it like a backpack, so when bringing in a flight I brought this here.
Since I bought a simple tent and basin in Jordan, the loading platform has become such a way of loading.

Since the grip is bulging so that the palm fits, you can hold it firmly.
I liked the cheap saddle purchased at Amazon, but when falling down, the metal rails disengaged from the main body and it is impossible to reoccur.
Since it can not be helped, we also bought a new saddle of USUS 30 USD (about 3500 yen).
I was on an airplane
Bring this folding bike and leave Narita again to London. From there I flied ten or more flights from Iceland, Russia, the Caribbean island country, Israel, but we succeeded in weight reduction and did not charge excess weight. The checked baggage was kept to around 20 kg. I was also worried about oversize, but there is no accusation also here. In America and the island country of the Caribbean, I think that the big suitcase is checking in more and more than the bag that put the bicycle.
Generally, it was smaller to this size. Because it gets dirty, the chain gets rolled with plastic bags.
The wheels and handles that rattle are fixed with a vinyl string or a binding band.
Remove the crank and the saddle and let the air out of the tire. Since the front wheels and the rear wheels collided, I applied blue sheets and old clothes.
In the early days, packing with extra large clothes bags got in Myanmar.
When the ruffled bag is damaged, pack it with an oversized plastic bag purchased in Thailand in preparation for this journey. There was a risk of breakage depending on the treatment, but this way was reasonable as we had a flight once every 3 days at busy times.
As planned, the bicycle enters completely. I put the tools of the trip together, packed the luggage in one and checked in with the staff at check-in.
