GIGAZINE (hereinafter, G):
Press conferenceAnd when David Hayman producer said "It was a clear work at the time when the screenwriter was received from Director Cualon," From when did Cureon think about zero gravity? Did you have a chance to think of something?

Director Alfonso · Cureon (Cureon):
It will be about four and a half years ago from now but I wrote a different piece of work with my son Honas who wrote the zero gravity script, together with Zero Gravity. Although this script was planned to be made into a movie, it was torn down by the influence of the economic crisis that occurred in 2008. It is the beginning of zero · gravity that changed feelings as "I will make something new rather than regret that the screenplay was not made into a movie."

Honus said that "I want to create a work that can be impressed by the audience's empathy and constantly drifting as a jet coaster-like tension, with the theme of adversity," and as a result of repeated trial and error by the two people, the astronaut I came up with a painting that was skipped by cosmic space in nothing space.

Also, although the story changes, I'm wearing a cool T - shirt (pointing to the reporter 's chest).

G:
Thank you very much. I asked "It was waiting for technology to catch up with the idea" as a reason why it took four and a half years from the start of the script to completion. Specifically, what was impossible with the technology at the time?

Cureon:
To be exact, it does not mean "I was waiting for technology development". I tried various things by constantly trial and error as to how I can visualize my screenplay. Among them, it was robot engineering and LED that shone a light of light for visualization.

Specifically, I put a screenplay on my own by combining a machine like an arm that repeats exactly the same operation, which is installed in a car manufacturing factory, a camera, lighting, etc., and using an LED for a light box It was finished in the image of the street.

G:
In the process, only two people, Ryan Stone (Sandra Block) and Matt Kowarski (George Clooney), came out, but did you think from the beginning as such a work? Or were there other characters?

Cureon:
Regarding characters, we decided to have one or two from the beginning. Why is it because the theme of "Is it possible to keep this suspense and tension feeling by one person or two people" in the core of zero · gravity?

G:
I avoided CG as much as possible and heard that I made a special device holding a huge turntable and rotating device and took a picture. Although it is a device created by the director of photography, how did you come up with a special shooting method?

Cureon:
CG is used in the movie, it is never avoided as much as possible. However, I devoted my first effort to how to combine CG with images shot in real life. Because I continued to study illumination and photography means with cameraman and visual effect supervisor, I was able to successfully combine video and CG with somehow.

G:
Long take (long turn) was used for director's past work, which was used frequently even in zero · gravity, creating a sense of continuous tension. Is there anything else besides "creating a feeling of tension" why you use long take?

Cureon:
When you want to draw relationships between people and the environment in real time, such as circumstances and circumstances tarnish characters against characters or opportunities to give information to people and information, keep the camera on So it will inevitably take a long take.

G:
Comparative expressions such as' Beautiful Earth 'and' Fearful Space ',' Dying frightening Ryan 'in the scene communicating with the earth' and 'Peaceful Earth communication' were seen everywhere in the work But what was your intention?

Cureon:
As you say, we incorporate contrasting expressions such as 'space that can not be felt of raw fragments' against the 'life-threatening earth' in the movie. Contrasting expression alone creates a sense of urgency in the movie. In the spirit of Dr. Ryan Stone who is the hero, there is a sense of urgency born from the expression expression of "life" and "death". As the important metaphor (the metaphor) of the earth and the universe, the tight atmosphere that the contrast expression produces is what we keep throughout the movie.

Even in the scene where Dr. Stone communicates with the earth, we use contrast expression. "It is a scene that Dr. Stone who is in the extreme state tried to communicate with Houston but it did not connect or was connected to a person who speaks a completely different language when I thought that it was connected, I could not communicate." Actually, my son Honus casually connected with Dr. Stone wirelesslyShort film drawn from a person's point of viewI made. I took the trouble to go to Greenland and focused on one of the Inuit nationals.

G:
It is a work called "Aningaaq" directed by Honus Cureon. I would like to ask about Aningaaq which is also a zero-gravity spin-off movie, but was Aningaaq planned to make it originally? Or was it supposed to try making it on the way of producing zero · gravity?

Cureon:
Although I was drawing scenes with my son Honus, there was a scene that I drew from a human viewpoint communicating with Dr. Stone, but I did not want to put it in zero gravity. Then, when Honus said "If you do not put in the zero gravity, if you make the scene as a short film, it seems interesting, is not it?" So I made Aningaaq while shooting Zero Gravity. So, Aningaaq will be included as a bonus on the zero gravity DVD and Blu-ray.

G:
I have worked with Mr. Honus · Cualon of my son several times so far, how was working with parents and children? Please tell me your frank opinions.

Cureon:
Honus has a wonderful talent as a script writer, and sometimes I can learn from Honus. You can approach from the perspective of a younger generation different from yourself or see things without being caught up by the old preconceptions. Although Honus is deep as a content, he is interested in works incorporating entertainment and laughter, and is a script writer treasuring exciting elements regardless of any movies.

G:
After finishing the production of "Zero · Gravity" this time the scene which seems to be "unexpectedly good", that is, what I thought or what was planned was different but the result I felt as "wonderful" Is there a scene that became it? On the contrary, are there scenes that were difficult to take when taking pictures?

Cureon:
The scenes that made shooting difficult is all (laughs) The scenes that were unexpectedly good are all the scenes involving Sandra Bullock.

G:
What kind of work do you want to make ahead for the director who has been making movies not bound by the genre such as "Pants / Labyrinth", "Harry Potter", "Zero Gravity" etc?

Cureon:
I am a producer and not a director at Pans Labyrinth. The director of Pans Labyrinth,Guillermo del Toro(Lol) I do not understand at all about the next work, but I can only say one thing I would like to make a work a person walks, that is, a work with gravity.

G:
So, what is your favorite movie at the end? Also, please tell me if you have any work that was influenced in becoming a film director.

Cureon:
I am not very good at making lists. For example, when you go shopping you just buy things you do not need, you later become "to forget to buy ah! So, when you mention one piece you like or influenced, you will want to say a lot more else, like shopping, because you regret saying "I forgot to mention that work" not.

But I will watch movies of various genres. Among them, I like works that respect movies as languages and works in which the personality of the screenwriter is projected.

After the interview, Director Cureon seemed to like the reporter's T - shirt, and I was taking photos of T - shirts. Curelon liked the music unit in the UKChemical Brothersof"We Are the NightArtwork of the album called "artwork" was printed.

The movie "Zero Gravity" is released on 13th December 2013. Coach Alfonso · Cureon successfully visualized the screenplay produced with his son Honus · Cureon, and even the people watching the movie can experience the feeling that it is skipped in the zero gravity space Look at this movie in the movie theater It is finished in a movie that enjoys the essence of the essence.
