A tragedy of a traveler who was forced to return to Japan for malaria and polyps in India

Hello everyone, this is Atsushi Matsuzaki, who started writing this article. It is very difficult to say 'Who?', But the person who is running the backpacker around the world is running an article on the blog “

World Newspaper ”. I mainly write world deep spot infiltration reports and interviews with travelers and Japanese people working in the world.

I used to be an editor in a specialized magazine and covered futsal. After working for 5 years, I was suddenly urged to see the wider world, and left the company in an electric shock (?). Traveling around the west, aiming for the final destination of the United States in one year.

And now I am writing this in Los Angeles, USA. 'Is my destination four months after departure?' No, no. There is a deep reason for this ...

Two weeks ago I was in India. So a tragedy hit me. First of all, I would like to write from there.

On October 24, 2011, I traveled from China to Nepal to India and was in Kolkata, India (the third largest city in India with a population of 15.53 million). It was a time when I had gone around India and thought I would fly from Kolkata to Bangkok.

Kolkata hustle and bustle

That day, I was in a bad condition and lay down at the inn. Slight fever and coldness. I thought it was strange that I felt like I had a cold for about 3 days.

After noon, I suddenly feel a sudden rise in body temperature. It feels like heat is coming from the back of the body. After a while, there is a new incident. I tried to roll over, but I couldn't hit it in the direction I wanted. I can't feel free. This is a last minute attempt to wake up the body, but the upper part of the upper body rises up.

I get up somehow, but it's hula. Let's leave the room anyway. However, I try to put a padlock on the door, but my finger doesn't move as expected. The hook cannot be inserted into the hole. I got downstairs and told the staff.

'Take me to the hospital'

Then go straight to the hospital by taxi. Immediate hospitalization. It turned out to be malaria.

Fortunately, the symptoms of malaria were mild and improved considerably on the second day, until the fourth day I could get an infusion. However, just in case, he said he would be hospitalized for a total of 7 days. But at that time, malaria was already pulling another tragedy.

Recover before you can do this

On the fourth day of hospitalization, I was in love with an Indian nurse in a hospital room. The doctor came to the room and said.

'You have found a polyp.'

Actually, I had an echo test in malaria, and it seems to have been found in the gall. So, I searched online for various gallbladder polyps, but most of the gallbladder polyps don't seem to be a big deal. If you echo, it seems to be found. The doctor said, “Now there is no problem at all. You should check it after 3 months and see the progress.” And I was taking care of it ......

The day before the discharge, when I asked the doctor about polyps again, it seems that it was different from the one that was written on the net. And the doctor says Sarah.

'You can operate here.'
“Wow? How was n’t that right now?”
“But I'll be traveling for another 9 months. What do you do if you hurt in the absence of medical facilities?”
'How long can surgery be discharged?'
“Can be discharged in 3 days”
“Do you mean taking a polyp?”
'No, take it out'
'Polyp?'
'All gall bladder'
'What?'

It seems that if you have a gallbladder surgery, it will be completely removed.

The doctor on the right declared surgery

I hit my head for a moment. From now on, if you are traveling with a mysterious polyp ... But when you get calm, it ’s all about galling in India or crazy. Moreover, they say it with a twist like 'Do you want to have a cup?' I can't understand that he suddenly recommends surgery the day before discharge. However, since I found a polyp, I want to clarify what it is. But Indians can't trust. That's why I decided to go back to Japan for a medical examination. It ’s not far from India yet. Thus, on November 4th, two days after discharge, I made an emergency return home. And the shocking facts were waiting in Japan.

Echo again at the local hospital and ask the doctor. The doctor said, looking at my echo.

“That ’s right, I did n’t find a polyp.”

I feel like I'm looking down. It was said that there was no thing that could be clearly identified as a polyp. Maybe there is a polyp, but it's a white level that doesn't matter whether it's echoed or not. There is almost no possibility that such a thing will grow in the future, and if you are worried, you should inspect it nine months after returning from the trip.

And I was told clearly. “No one is operating in the current state.” I was addicted to an Indian doctor. Probably it was money. Since I was on overseas travel insurance, the more I get medical treatment, the more money I get from the insurance company to the hospital. It may have been the excuse for the surgery that “you can get the money” that the polyp-like thing was accidentally reflected in the echo. Yes, my polyp was made up.

So I'm in Los Angeles right now. Anyway, I'm back to the starting point, and if this happens, I will run backwards! It ’s half hot. In this way, the continuation of the journey began from around the east and from the United States.
