Jobs explains the contents of One More Thing, what can be done with "iTunes Match"

Steve Jobs made three major presentations at today's "WWDC 2011", and "One More Thing" that appeared in that last was this "ITunes Match"is. "ICloudIt is a service located on the extension of "iCloud" and you understand why that merit somehow.

Details on "iTunes Match" explained by Jobs are as follows.
Apple - Apple Events - Apple Special Event June 2011

15 billion songs are purchased worldwide

Of the songs purchased in this manner, in the case of CDs, they are ripped and carried.

Music data captured in this manner is handled mainly in three ways. The first method is to synchronize with some music device via wireless LAN or cable. The second method is to purchase with iTunes. The third one is "iTunes Match".

So what is this "iTunes Match"?

Apple sells 18 million songs, including songs that you've already ripped.

I scan those ripped songs with iTunes and match it with songs in the iTunes Store. Doing so will give you the same usability as the one you purchased at the iTunes Store for the song you ripped yourself. Matched songs are automatically upgraded to DRM free in the same 256 kbps AAC format as iTunes Store.

Scanned songs will not be uploaded to somewhere like Google and Amazon music services, you only need to detect music fingerprints first (like what is called a hash value, in the file itself There is no unique numeric value indicating the original file). Compare this fingerprint with the songs in the iTunes Store and update and upload only those songs that Apple can not identify, ie songs not in the iTunes Store. So it takes only a couple of minutes to upload all the libraries that I have and it costs around $ 24.99 per year (about 2000 yen).

Amazon also has similar services, but it costs $ 50 (about 4000 yen) for 5000 songs and $ 200 (about 16,000 yen) for 20,000 songs. But regardless of how many songs this Apple service is, it is only $ 24.99 per year (about 2000 yen) per year.

We have built a third data center for this iTunes Match and iCloud

This is it

It costs about 500 million dollars (about 40 billion yen)

It is hard to understand how big it is, but please look carefully on the rooftop

Is human being like that grain, can you see it?

In other words, it is this big data center.

Inside like this there are lots of servers
