Videos of Amazing Fireworks at Naniwa Yodogawa Hanabi Festival
Here are some videos of beautiful fireworks we shot at The 22nd Naniwa Yodogawa Hanabi Taikai held last Saturday on August 7, 2010. We were able to watch the fireworks from the best seats on a Hanabi-watching boat on Yodo River.
Videos after the cut!
Watch them in HD (720p) on full-screen mode for maximum effect, preferably with headphones.

A "Class 8" firework shell mesures about 10 inches in diameter, weighs about 5kg. When lit, it reaches 280m high and explodes to spread 140m in radius.
"Hana-bi", the Japanese word for fireworks, literally means Flower Fire. It's easy to see where this comes from, and some of the fireworks are named after flowers such as peony, dahlia and chrysanthemum.

This one shows Saturn-shaped and star-shaped fireworks in the first half, and "Waterborne Starmine" in the second half (around 1:45-2:05). The shell explodes on water surface so the fire spreads in half-circle, like a peacock's tail.
