What exactly is ``Video Revolution Tokyo'' that supports young writers from the financial and production aspects?

The name ' Video Revolution Tokyo ' is commonly seen in

Machine Soldier Legacy , One Wheeler , and Sencoroll released in theaters in 2009. Just by looking at the name, it seems like one of the animation production companies in Tokyo, but in reality it was a grand project aimed at sending out creators to the world.

At the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2010 , conferences and symposiums were held on the activities of Video Revolution Tokyo and the works it supported, and I was able to learn about what kind of works are being sent out into the world. If you only follow new TV animations , you may get the impression that there are many animations with original works, but I realize that creators around the world are creating original works day and night.

'Video Kakumei Tokyo' is a project run by Anime Innovation Tokyo Co., Ltd. , a subsidiary of THINK Co., Ltd., which produces videos.

Creators have all kinds of ideas in their heads, but they don't have the capital to give shape to them, or they don't have the production environment, and even if they do create them, they don't know how to sell them, and their works are buried. I will do it. At Video Revolution Tokyo, we support such creators with funds and production environments, and first have them produce a pilot video, and then produce that video. This type of business seems to be common in Europe and the United States, and it is a model that if you see a pilot version and get a sponsor, you will start producing a large-scale work and expand it to the world.

By December 2008, Video Revolution Tokyo had completed all 12 applications. A total of 166 entries were submitted, of which 14, or about 10%, were eligible for support. 67% of these entries were made by individuals, and most of the entries from corporations were from people at production companies, and it seems that there were some that were considered as in-house projects. On the other hand, there were many applications from students and teachers, and some of them said that they wanted to do creative work while working at a general company. It's called 'Video Revolution Tokyo' and actually receives support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. In terms of numbers, Kansai, which seems to be a lot, seems to have stayed at 5%.

So far, we have supported a total of 14 works, starting with the first term 'Cenco Roll' and 'Corboccoro'.

In particular, 'Cencoroll' became a big hit with a theatrical release in 2009. The work was created by

Atsuya Uki , purchased by Aniplex and left by Douga Kakumei Tokyo.

Among the works supported by Video Kakumei Tokyo, 'Cenco Roll' and 'Mushitou Tetsudo' were selected as the jury recommended works for the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival 2010, and 'Taropicana' was invited to the Japan Film Festival 2009. .

In addition, we will introduce some of the works that Video Revolution Tokyo has supported.

The first work '

Corboccoro ' is Kenji Itoso 's work. A 14-year-old girl, Suzu, who is the princess of a city whose nature has been lost due to the development of culture and science, but is starting to lose her place, one day accidentally meets the spirit of nature Corboccoro. The secrets of the city, the true identity of Corboccoro, and the fate that Suzu carries are intertwined with each other to create a single truth. Starring is Emiri Kato, who plays the role of Mayoi Hachikuji in 'Bakemonogatari' and Kagami Hiiragi in 'Lucky Star'.

According to the flyer in 2007 when Korboccoro was completed, the number of videos exceeds 10,000, which is three times the number of TV animations. In order to pursue the original warmth of the video, it seems that the background and video are mostly hand-drawn. From October 15, 2009, distribution is being done at 'Minna no Theater Wii'.

Similarly, '

Love Roller Coaster ' by Hiromasa Horie , the first work. A slapstick adventure drama in which a 10-year-old bear cub, John, finds out from a message from his dead mother that an important treasure is in a rocket, and searches for a rocket with his friends.

In addition to being broadcast on NHK in December 2008 and November 2009, it is also distributed on 'Everyone's Theater Wii'.

Picograph is in charge of planning, directing, planning and animation production for ' TAILENDERS' . A group made up of graduates of Hokkaido University of Education, they have an anecdote that when they exhibited transforming toys at the Wonder Festival, they sold out in 7 minutes.

Bashiro, who was a racer whose future was expected, was involved in a serious accident and wandered between life and death. Although he survived by replacing his heart with a special new engine called 'Tomoe Drive', Shirou was considered a part of the car due to the regulations, and lost his qualification to participate in all races. The only rule-free planet reclamation race that opens up unexplored land is allowed to participate, and a fantastic rally between Shirou and unique racers who have gathered for their pride and for the prize money. A story that begins...

'TAILENDERS' was screened at SAPPORO Short Fest 2009, and can also be viewed at 'Everyone's Theater Wii'.

'Yokai' planned by

Koji Mikami . In order to find out the secrets of Japanese monsters, a monster family was sent from the American monster empire to a sacred place in Japan. There, Japanese monsters cling to humans and lead a normal life, and the family soon become popular. Hank, the father of the family, tries to accomplish his mission somehow, but it doesn't go well due to the appearance of obstacles and cultural differences.

It's hard to get along with the world because of differences in culture, religion, and way of thinking, but it seems that the idea is to blame it on youkai and laugh it off and get along.

Hirotomo Yamashita's ' SUPER STRINGS ' presents a new form of science fiction that has never existed before, such as 'catfish action' and 'nature punk'.

In a future where all living things can no longer produce offspring, three children, the last humans, and the few surviving animals and plants live in an oasis in the desert. The story is that they continued their research to immortalize all life forms on earth. The pilot video is 7 minutes, but it seems that the work is supposed to be a movie of about 100 minutes.

According to executive producer Hiroaki Takeuchi , there are works that have already been talked about from various places, and people who think that they are good after seeing the work want to contact more and more.

Starting with 'Kaihei Senki Legacys', it would be a pity to just leave the pilot footage as it is. I think there are various ways to make it into a TV animation or a movie, but it would be nice if more and more completed works like 'Cencoroll' were born.
