"The Borrower Arrietty" Picture Book at Studio Ghibli's booth in TAF2010


Studio Ghibli's new film Karigurashi no Arrietty(The Borrower Arrietty), based on the fantasy novel The Borrowers by Mary Norton (you might have seen the 1997 movie starring young Tom Felton a.k.a. Draco Malfoy), is to premiere on July 17, 2010.

A tiny picture book is to be bundled with special advance ticket(due April). The books were on display at Studio Ghibli's booth in TAF2010.

The book bundled with advance ticket is Vol. 1. Other volumes will be attached to soundtracks and other products.

The book is a collection of sketches and some storyboard-like stuff.


The note says "Their should be details only seen by tiny people, so human characters shouldn't be simple enlargement of what we're used to drawing".

This looks like the final design. The special advance ticket that comes with this book will go on sale on April 17, 2010.


The theme song is Arrietty's Song by Cecile Corbel. To be released on April 7.


Production designer Yohei Taneda will recreate Arrietty's room for a joint exhibition to be held at Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo.


You'll be able to see things from tiny people's perspective.


Taneda did the art direction and production design for the 2008 Japanese film The Magic Hour.


He also worked on Kill Bill.


And anime film Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
