The new movie in the anime series 'Lupin the Third', ' LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE (tentative title) ', is set to be released in 2025, and a teaser trailer has been released. However, this film is a full 3D CG animation, which means it will be the first 2D theatrical release in almost 30 years since 'Lupin III: Dead or Alive,' which was released in 1996 and was directed by the original author, Monkey Punch.
The director is Takeshi Koike, who was in charge of character design for the 2012 spin-off 'LUPIN the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine,' and went on to direct 'LUPIN THE IIIRD: Jigen Daisuke's Gravestone,' 'LUPIN THE IIIRD: Goemon Ishikawa's Spray of Blood,' and 'LUPIN THE IIIRD: Fujiko Mine's Lie,' which were released in theaters from 2014.
The series that Director Koike has been involved in is characterized by its inheritance of the hard-boiled atmosphere of the original. Inspector Zenigata is not a 'Lupin who is outwitted every time,' but rather he is a man who keeps pushing Lupin into a corner.
Director Koike was interviewed when 'Fujiko Mine's Lie' was released in theaters, giving us a glimpse into his philosophy on how he puts together his films.

'LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE (tentative title)' is scheduled for release in theaters in 2025.
By the way, starting today, Friday, November 29, 2024, a screening will be held to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the theatrical release of the first film, 'Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro.'
