Toyota's Compact Electric Car "FT-EVII" for Urban Life: Tokyo Motor Show 2009

One of the reasons why electric cars have still far to go before replacing gasoline cars is that they can't store as much energy as gasoline cars can, so you'll need to make frequent charging stops and you can end up stranded nowhere near a charging place when travelling long distance.

In near future, if electric cars become common enough, you'll be able to find a charging station anywhere in a city like filling stations can be found everywhere today. Envisioning this, Toyota's concept car "FT-EV II" is aimed at city people who make short trips for shopping or commuting. The four-seater compact car can travel as long as 90km (56 miles) without recharging. The maximum speed is over 100km/h (62 mph) which must be enough for city traffic.

No gas or break pedals, so you can stretch your legs. The vehicle can be controlled entirely by hands. It might be of use for paraplegic drivers.
