Hitachi's Full Parallax 3D Display: CEATEC JAPAN 2009

Hitachi's "Full Parallax 3D Display" which allows you to see objects in 3D from every angle without tacky glasses or crossing your eyes were exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2009. Here's a video to give you the idea how it works.

A description board.

The technology is called "Integral Photography with Overlaid Projection". Basically, it uses multiple small projectors to project overlaid images through the lens sheet on the display panel, and each ray of light radiating from the panel will form the image that should be seen from that particular angle, so you can move around the display and see how the object should look like from every angle, just as it's actually right in front of you. The image resolution can be increased by the number of projectors.
