Japanese Copyright Control Organization Asked 12 Publishers not to introduce Piracy Method Anymore

ACCS and 11 copyright control organization today announced to have requested 12 publishers not to introduce how to download copyrighted contents uploaded illegally on their books and magazines

In Japan, Illegal Download Prevention Act is to be initiated from January, 2010 and this should be the act focused on it.

According to the release, copyright control organization claims that these anonymous 12 publishers "introduced how to download illegally uploaded musics, movies, games and such and indirectly promoted infringement of copyright" and concluded "it will probably prevent the sound development of contents business".

Also on their statement:

Uploading copyrighted contents are illegal. Authority is on investigation and violator can be jailed up to ten years or less imprisonment or fined up to 10 million JPY(about $100,000 USD).

In addition, from January 2010, downloading these pirated contents will also be illegalized based on revised Copyright Law
