I bought and tried two bento boxes from Lawson: one with grilled corn piled high and another with white rice topped with a small amount of super spicy keema curry.

On September 29, 2026, Lawson released two new products: ' Too Much of a One-Point Breakthrough! Rice Packed with Grilled Corn ' and ' Too Much of a One-Point Breakthrough! Rice-Enhancing Keema Curry (Extra Spicy) .' Both are affordable bento boxes priced at 297 yen (tax included), and are described as truly one-point breakthrough bentos, with 'grilled corn as the only side dish' and 'just a small amount of extra spicy keema curry on top.' I was curious about the volume and taste, so I bought and tried them myself.

I bought 'Too much of a one-point breakthrough! Rice covered with grilled corn' and 'Too much of a one-point breakthrough! Keema curry that makes you want to eat more rice (extra spicy)'.

First, I'll try the 'Too Much of a Single Point! Rice Packed with Grilled Corn.' I can see a huge amount of corn through the transparent container.

The ingredients list includes 'grilled corn with butter-flavored soy sauce dressing.'

Each serving contains 382 kcal and 2.18g of salt.

Before eating, heat in a 500W microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Heat before opening. The white rice is completely covered with roasted corn.

The grilled corn has a sweet butter-soy sauce flavor, and when you bite into it, the juices burst out. The white rice is also soaked in the butter-soy sauce, resulting in an overall sweet finish. One pack was about as satisfying as two convenience store rice balls.

I'll also try the 'Too much of a one-trick pony! Keema curry that makes you want to eat more rice (extra spicy).'

The ingredients include ground pork, curry roux, and spicy sauce.

Each serving contains 424 kcal and 0.65g of salt. It's quite low in sodium.

Heat in a 500W microwave for 1 minute and 15 seconds.

Heat and open. A small portion of keema curry is placed in the center of the white rice.

This is what keema curry looks like when photographed up close.

Upon tasting it, the keema curry was packed with minced pork and had a spicy finish. The spiciness was 'very spicy, with a strong chili pepper kick. However, as a spice enthusiast, I would prefer it even spicier,' and it was definitely very spicy compared to typical curries. However, despite the spiciness, the flavor intensity was about the same as a typical keema curry, and the amount of keema curry was overwhelmingly small compared to the amount of rice, making it feel like they simply reduced the amount of keema curry to cut costs.

'Too much of a breakthrough! Rice covered with grilled corn' and 'Too much of a breakthrough! Rice that goes well with keema curry (extra spicy)' are both priced at 297 yen (tax included) and will be available at Lawson stores nationwide from September 29, 2026.
