ChatGPT for Teens is offered to 'users that the system estimates to be under 18 years old' and 'users who self-report being between 13 and 17 years old.' In ChatGPT for Teens, ChatGPT's responses will change to 'avoid using romantic language,' 'not encourage emotional dependence,' and 'clearly state that ChatGPT is an AI and not behave as if it has emotions.' Additionally, when sending images, a confirmation screen will be displayed stating that 'sensitive images must not be sent.'

When you ask a question about studying, instead of just giving you the answer, they will explain the path to solving the problem, including using interactive diagrams and other visual aids.

Furthermore, parental controls have been enhanced, including 'Quiet hours' which allows users to specify times when ChatGPT is unavailable, and a function that notifies parents if their child exchanges inappropriate content.

OpenAI has been working to enhance protection features for users under 18 and improve its policies based on expert opinions and ongoing safety research. The system card, which outlines the specifications of its AI models, now includes evaluation items that take into account users under 18 .
