On July 22, 2026, at Galaxy Unpacked in London, Samsung Electronics announced AI-powered smart glasses designed for everyday wear. Utilizing Google's Android XR platform and working in conjunction with Gemini, users can receive AI assistance through voice and gestures without needing to look at their smartphone screen. Google and Samsung had previously teased new smart glasses, and unveiled the first two designs at Google I/O in May 2026.

The two newly announced frames both feature angular designs: Gentle Monster offers angular black smart glasses, while Warby Parker offers slightly rounded reddish-brown smart glasses.
The device features a camera and a Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 processor, allowing AI to understand what the user is looking at. This enables features such as summarizing and reading long messages, real-time translation, route guidance, and answering questions about the surrounding environment. It can also take photos of whiteboards and meeting contents and organize important information in Samsung Notes.
It also features the ability to share the video you're seeing with the other party during a call, and to record first-person perspective videos. At the same time, prioritizing privacy, it has an LED light that signals the start of recording, and it seems that if this LED light is covered or hidden, it will not be possible to record videos or take photos.
Based on the user's current situation and past actions, context-aware support is also envisioned, such as continuing tasks that were left unfinished. However, some functions require a compatible Galaxy device or app, a network connection, and user permission.
The battery life is up to 9 hours on a single charge, and the charging case can provide up to 7 additional charges. The frame is lightweight and has a slim design; the Gentle Monster version has a slim black frame, while the Warby Parker version has a brown frame. Samsung explains that they have also adjusted the fit to the forehead and ears, prioritizing comfort and durability for extended wear.
The smart glasses announced by Samsung do not have a display on the lenses to show information; instead, they use a camera and microphone to recognize the surroundings and provide voice responses from Gemini and Bixby through a built-in speaker. Route guidance and real-time translation are also provided primarily by voice, rather than by overlaying text or arrows on the field of view. Meanwhile, Google is also developing Android XR glasses with a display and plans to begin testing with trusted testers in the second half of 2026.
Choi Jae-in, Vice President of Mobile Experience at Samsung, stated at a press conference that 'Samsung's R&D team has several engineers dedicated to testing and implementing new privacy features,' emphasizing the privacy-focused nature of the newly announced smart glasses. He also noted that consumers' sensitivity to potential privacy risks 'varies greatly depending on culture, country, and regulations,' and described this as 'a common industry issue.'
