Samsung reveals it is working with Google on AR glasses



Samsung's head of mobile experience, TM Roh, told Bloomberg that the company is working with Google to develop

Samsung announced 'Project Moohan' a headset equipped with Google's Android XR OS for XR devices in December 2024, and commented that Samsung and Google are 'building a collaborative relationship as one team.'

Roh told Bloomberg ahead of Samsung's new product launch event, Galaxy Unpacked 2025 , held on January 23, 2025, that the company is working with Google to develop AR glasses.

Roh, however, did not reveal any details about the AR glasses. 'As part of Samsung's efforts to co-develop Android XR, the AR glasses will be released in the future. We are working hard to reach sufficient quality and readiness as soon as possible,' he said.

Regarding AR glasses, Meta announced 'Orion,' a prototype of multi-function AR glasses, in September 2024, claiming that 'AR glasses are key to realizing the next big leap in human-centric computing.'

According to Bloomberg, Meta does not plan to sell Orion to the general public, but instead may sell an upgraded version of Orion called Artemis AR glasses around 2027 .
