I tried 'Suko Cider' from Echizen-Ono, which captures the flavor of the local dish 'Suko' in a cider.

Ono City in Fukui Prefecture, home to Echizen Ono Castle, one of the 'castles in the sky,' is also known for its pure water. A cider called ' Echizen Ono Famous Water Suko Cider ' is sold there, which combines the local dish 'suko' with the water. I only knew 'suko'

as internet slang , so I bought and tried the cider to see what it was like.

This is 'Suko Cider.' Ono City is famous for its taro, and 'suko' is made from taro stems pickled in vinegar. The label says 'Pickled Red Zuiki Flavor,' and perhaps to evoke the image of red zuiki, it features a red heart shape and the word 'Suko.' Incidentally, while the internet slang term 'suko' is thought to have originated around 2012, 'Suko Cider' is a project that the Ono Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been working on since 2017, so it's not surprising that it incorporates the nuances of internet slang.

The ingredients are fructose, rice vinegar, carbonated water, acidulant, flavoring, and coloring (red cabbage).

It contains 29kcal per 100ml, so a 250ml bottle contains 65kcal.

This is what it looks like when poured into a glass. The liquid is almost colorless and transparent; if you look closely against a white wall, you might notice a faint tint.
