Pangram Labs, which offers a service that boasts '99.98% accuracy in identifying AI-generated text such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini,' collected information from users who agreed to data sharing for its Chrome extension and scanned information from 1,002,627 posts obtained from platforms such as LinkedIn, Medium, Substack, X (formerly Twitter), and Reddit.
Of all posts, 13.8% were determined to be AI-generated. When limited to longer posts (250 words or more), the proportion of AI-generated content increased to approximately 25%.
When limited to long-form posts, LinkedIn had the highest percentage of posts, at 40.5%, that were determined to be entirely AI-generated. Including a mix of AI and human creators, X was the platform with the most AI involvement.

While 35% of the scanned posts in the study originated from LinkedIn, less than 44% from X, the percentage of posts identified as AI-generated was 62% for LinkedIn compared to 24% for X. In other words, LinkedIn has the highest percentage of AI-generated content among all platforms, Pangram Labs reports.

Pangram Labs noted that 'LinkedIn offers various ways to promote the use of AI, such as
Furthermore, even Substack, which had the lowest AI utilization rate among platforms where long-form posts are the norm, was found to have over one-fifth (21.9%) of its posts generated or assisted by AI.
Furthermore, the results show that original posts are more likely to be AI-generated than replies. In the case of LinkedIn, the likelihood of an original post being AI-generated was 1.35 times higher than the likelihood of a reply being AI-generated. In the case of Reddit, 98.1% of replies were written by humans, while 11.6% of original posts were AI-generated.

Pangram Labs stated, 'Regardless of whether platforms are trying to curb AI content in feeds, our users are still seeing a huge amount of AI-generated text on LinkedIn. Researchers estimate that 35 percent of newly published websites on the internet are created using AI generation or AI assistance. An internet filled with AI content that isn't clearly indicated is a bleak future, but we don't think it's inevitable. By increasing transparency regarding AI-generated content online, we want to empower internet users to take control of where they direct their attention.'
