Previously, the email address generated for account creation using the 'Private Email' feature had the domain '@icloud.com'. Apple now forwards emails sent to this address to the email address linked to the user's Apple account. This allows users to create an account without disclosing their email address to the service provider.

Technology media outlet TechCrunch explains why 'Private Email' works: 'The reason these anonymous email addresses work is that they are indistinguishable from regular Apple user email addresses using the same domain (@icloud.com).'

It has been announced that the domain of email addresses generated using the 'Private Email' feature will be changed from '@icloud.com' to '@private.icloud.com'. Email addresses with the '@icloud.com' domain that have been issued so far will continue to function and forward emails to users.

TechCrunch pointed out that this change 'will change the domain of email addresses generated by the 'Private Email' feature to '@private.icloud.com,' making it easier for the service provider to recognize email addresses generated with 'Private Email,' thus making it easier to block user registrations.'

On the social forum Reddit , some commented on the change, saying, 'If companies know the domain (of the email address generated by the private email feature), they will now ask users for their main email account.' However, there were also comments like, 'Since apple.com is already classified as spam , I hope they create a completely new domain so that it doesn't overlap with existing domains.'
