On June 1, 2026, Randy Pitchford, the founder of Gearbox Software , the developer of Borderlands, posted a photo of a watch that 'a friend found a few days earlier while scuba diving near St. Maarten.'

The watch has a round shape and appears to be a smartwatch with a display. It looks very similar to the Google Pixel Watch .

The image below shows the back of the watch. Sensors are located in the center, and you can see 'Google Pixel Watch 5' written on the outside. Google just released

the Google Pixel Watch 4 in October 2025, so at the time of writing this article, that is the latest model. In other words, the Google Pixel Watch 5 is an unannounced model.

Furthermore, the Google Pixel Watch 5 has markings indicating several specifications, including IP68 water and dust resistance, and it can be confirmed that it is equipped with a heart rate sensor, UWB chip, pulse sensor, and skin temperature tracking function.

A friend who discovered what appeared to be a Google Pixel Watch 5 thought Pitchford had connections in the technology industry and asked him to 'take a look.' Pitchford posted, 'Can anyone help me? Can anyone find the owner of this unreleased watch and tell me how to return it?'

Pitchford later posted, 'Thanks to the magic of the internet, I was able to contact the owner and arrange for its return. If you find something that isn't yours, you should try to return it to its rightful owner.'

Internet users have criticized Pitchford, claiming he is lying or trying to gain attention. Some also suggest that Google paid Pitchford to leak the Google Pixel Watch 5 before the big announcement. However, gaming media outlet Kotaku pointed out that 'it seems highly unlikely that Google would go to such lengths to have Pitchford leak the Google Pixel Watch 5.'

It should be noted that there have been previous instances of leaks regarding the Google Pixel Watch series. In 2022, the first-generation Google Pixel Watch was found as lost property in a restaurant in the United States before its official announcement.
