A user searches for 'zucchini bread recipe' using Firefox.

I opened the relevant website, but it was long, full of images and advertisements, and left me confused, wondering, 'What's the point of all this?'

In such cases, simply shake your smartphone.

The AI summarizes and concisely summarizes the content. It is said to be compatible with websites with fewer than 5000 words.

Mozilla, the company behind Firefox, stated, 'Don't let bloated websites waste your time. When you just want to get to the point, scrolling through ads and redundant content can turn a quick check into an endless scroll. Firefox's Shake to Summarize feature solves that problem.'

This 'Shake to Summarize' feature was first released in September 2025 for the English version of iOS. Subsequently, support for German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Japanese was expanded with the release of Firefox 150 on April 21, 2026, and the English version became available for Android users with Firefox 151 on May 19.

In our editorial environment, neither the iOS nor Android versions were available. However, if you prefer tap-based operation, you can select 'Summarize Page' from the three-dot menu's 'More' option.

In addition, the 'AI Control' feature, previously available only in the desktop version of Firefox, will now be available in the iOS and Android versions as well. AI Control allows you to completely turn off Firefox's AI features, enable only the features you need, or change settings later. The displayed content may vary depending on the device and region, but on Android you can turn on or off features such as website translation and voice search, while on iOS you can turn on or off features such as translation and shake to summarize.

For iPhone 15 Pro and later (iOS 26 or later), summaries are generated on the device using Apple Intelligence. For all other devices, the text is sent to Mozilla's cloud-based AI and summarized by Mistral-Small.
