Android AICore was introduced in December 2023 when Google announced its generative AI, Gemini, as a feature for running AI on the device. Android AICore is available on compatible devices with Android 14 or later installed. By using Android AICore, you can run on-device AI for functions such as advanced proofreading, automatic speech recognition, fraud detection, smart replies, summarization, and translation.

According to Google, Android AICore will temporarily retain both the old and new versions of its AI model for up to three days to ensure reliable functionality. This means that if an error occurs with the new update, the device can instantly use the old version without having to download several gigabytes of data again.

Once the system confirms the stability of the update, the old version of the AI model will be deleted, and the extra storage space will be automatically freed up.
