Firefox is set to implement a 'Tab Notes' feature that will allow users to attach notes to tabs.

Tabnote is a tool that allows you to freely record notes, to-do lists, and personal reflections about web pages, up to a maximum of 1000 characters. When you create a note, a new icon resembling a sticky note appears in the tab, and the recorded content is retained even if you close and reopen the tab.

Initially, this feature was enabled by default in the Nightly version, but since the update on February 25, 2026, it can now be manually enabled from the settings screen. The development team states that they are constantly working on improvements to enhance data persistence so that notes are not lost even if the URL changes dynamically on the site.

The community site Mozilla Connect receives a variety of feedback from users, including suggestions for features such as a

Kanban-style dashboard for managing notes and a function to synchronize with Thunderbird's calendar.

On the other hand, at the time of writing, some issues have been pointed out that need improvement, such as notes disappearing when navigating within a page because they depend on URLs, and inconsistent confirmation procedures using the Enter key.

Other suggestions include including the contents of notes in the address bar search and reusing the contents of notes as tab titles. Ajit Barma, head of Mozilla, stated that 'based on a roadmap that reflects the voices of the community, we will evolve the browser into one with even greater privacy protection and convenience in the coming months.'

In addition to Tabnote, Firefox 149 will introduce many new features, including a free 50GB built-in VPN (available in the US, France, Germany, and the UK) and a split-view feature that displays two pages side-by-side. Furthermore, AI Control, which allows users to individually turn the generation AI function on or off, and Smart Window, where AI assists with summarizing and comparing, will be available as options. Along with these feature enhancements, the website and the overall product design will be refreshed, and a new mascot, 'Kit,' will be introduced, aiming to modernize the brand image.
