MotionVFX is a company founded in 2009 in Warsaw, Poland, that develops advanced features such as plugins and templates for Final Cut Pro, Apple's video editing software. MotionVFX offers a monthly subscription plan of $29 (approximately 4600 yen) that provides access to professional tools for Final Cut Pro.

MotionVFX announced on its official website that it has been acquired by Apple. The acquisition price has not been disclosed. The message that MotionVFX released simultaneously with the acquisition announcement is as follows:

We are thrilled that MotionVFX has joined Apple, and that we will continue to support creators and editors in bringing their best work to life. For over 15 years, our mission has been to create the world's best, most visually inspiring content and effects for video editors. From the very beginning, quality, ease of use, and great design have been our top priorities. These are the values that have impressed us most in Apple products, and we are delighted to share these values with Apple. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our amazing customers and supporters who have supported us over the years. You have inspired us, challenged us, and helped us grow the products we have today. We are honored to be a part of this incredible community and will continue to strive to be of service to you. This is truly the beginning of something amazing!

Technology media outlet TechCrunch has reached out to Apple for comment on the acquisition, but has not received a response as of the time of writing.

In January 2026, Apple released 'Apple Creator Studio,' a subscription bundle that provides access to premium content for six creative apps and iWork apps. This bundle costs ¥1,780 per month or ¥17,800 per year and provides access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro on Mac and iPad, and Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on Mac. Apple is competing with Adobe Creative Suite with Apple Creator Studio, and it is clear that the acquisition of MotionVFX is intended to enhance its competitiveness against Adobe.

One of Apple's biggest growth drivers in recent years has been the growth of its services division, which includes paid subscriptions. By 2025, the services division is projected to account for approximately 26% of Apple's revenue, compared to just 8.5% in 2015.
