In March 2025, Microsoft announced ' Copilot for Gaming ' ( Gaming Copilot ) as an AI assistant for gamers. Gaming Copilot is an AI assistant that will allow players to quickly access their favorite games and receive coaching to improve their skills.
For example, if you're playing Minecraft and ask, 'I've got some wood, what should I do with it?', Gaming Copilot will advise you, 'Open your inventory, place the oak log in the crafting area, and craft it into wooden planks.' You can also ask for game recommendations, your play history, account details, and more.

Sonali Yadav, Product Manager for Xbox's Game AI Partners Group, said at the Game Developers Conference, 'We are pleased to announce that later this year we will be bringing Gaming Copilot to current-generation consoles and to more services that players are using.' While it is clear that 'current-generation consoles' refers to the Xbox Series X/S, no specific platform name was mentioned in the announcement.
GamesRadar+, a gaming media outlet, reports that 'Gaming Copilot has been available in beta on non-console platforms for some time, but it hasn't generated much buzz (both positive and negative) within the gaming community. However, this situation may change if the AI assistant becomes more widely available on Xbox.'
Yadav, who announced Gaming Copilot's expansion to Xbox, commented, 'We have learned a lot over the past year. We are grateful for all the feedback we have received from the community.'
