Intel announces the Core Ultra 200S Plus series of CPUs for gamers

Intel has announced the Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus series (270K, 250K Plus) of desktop processors, which are the first to feature new optimization features that improve gaming performance.

The initial lineup of the 'Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus' series consists of three models: ' Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus ', ' Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus ', and ' Intel Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus '. 'KF' is a model without integrated graphics.
The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K/KF Plus have more cores than the Core Ultra 7 265K/KF and Core Ultra 5 245K/KF, and the die-to-die frequency is increased by up to 900MHz, which is said to significantly improve multi-threaded performance.
Additionally, the Core Ultra 200S Plus series is the first to feature the Intel Binary Optimization Tool , a binary translation layer optimization feature that can improve native performance in certain games.
These features result in up to 15% faster gaming performance on average compared to existing Intel products, and up to 103% better multi-threaded performance compared to competing CPUs.
The main new specifications and features are as follows:
Four efficiency cores (E cores) have been added, giving the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus a 24-core (8P + 16E) configuration and the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus an 18-core (6P + 12E) configuration.
Compared to the Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K, the die-to-die frequency has been increased by up to 900MHz, resulting in approximately 1GHz faster link speed between the CPU and memory controller, lowering system latency and improving gaming performance.
The Intel Binary Optimization Tool improves processor IPC (instructions per clock) and user-perceived performance, even if the workload is optimized for a different x86 processor, a gaming console, or an older architecture.
Supports DDR5-7200 MT/s memory (vs. 6400 MT/s for the previous Core Ultra 200S series), and also supports Intel Core Ultra 200S Boost BIOS profiles and warranty support for 8000 MT/s memory overclocking.
Early support for 4-Rank CUDIMM memory. Achieving a maximum memory capacity of 128GB per module, it delivers extremely high performance and large memory capacity for desktop environments. The new '4R CUDIMM' module is an emerging technology supported by select motherboards with Intel 800 series chipsets, combining HEDT-class capacity with the latency and bandwidth of gaming RAM.
'With the new Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus desktop processors, Intel is taking the first step into a new era of enthusiast performance,' said Robert Hallock, vice president, Client Computing Group. 'The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Ultra 5 250K Plus are the fastest desktop gaming processors Intel has ever made. Second, they deliver nearly double the content creation performance of the competition. And third, they arrive with exciting new technologies that revolutionize the setup and optimization roadmap for Intel's gaming platforms. These chips offer exceptional value.'
Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus desktop processors will be compatible with all 800-series chipset motherboards currently on the market, with new 800-series chipset motherboards expected to arrive throughout 2026, including models that will enable early support for quad-rank CUDIMM memory.
These products will be available through sales partners from March 26, 2026. Intel's suggested retail prices will start at $299 (approximately 48,000 yen) and $199 (approximately 32,000 yen), respectively.
