A play review of the ADV 'Electric Town Cafe' where you become the manager of a maid cafe in Nihonbashi, Osaka, and spend time with unique maids while promoting the store.

The Nintendo Switch/Steam game '

Kissaten in Electric Town ' is an adventure game in which the protagonist, who has been worn out both physically and mentally by working at an extremely brutal company, ends up working as a live-in manager at a maid cafe in a corner of Electric Town. While spending time with four maids, you aim to revive the failing maid cafe, and you can enjoy plenty of sub-elements based on real shops in the Electric Town of Nihonbashi, Osaka, and popular indie games.

The home screen of 'Electric Town Cafe' looks like this. Select 'New Game' to start the game.

The player was an office worker at an extremely black company where his superiors would call him by his employee number, but he was so exhausted both physically and mentally that he finally decided to quit the company.

I walked around the electronics district looking for my next job. I was living in the company dormitory, so I also needed a place to live.

They eventually arrive at Fuwa Fuwa, a maid cafe on the edge of the electric town. The cafe is on the verge of bankruptcy, with no manager in place. Fuwa Fuwa's only remaining maid, Shiro (voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa), welcomes them with a special espresso.

When Shiro asks him if he would like to become the manager of his store, he agrees, attracted by the condition that he would be willing to live on the premises.

Her new residence is on the second floor of the maid cafe, with a view of Tsutenkaku Tower from the balcony. She now has a job and a place to live at the same time, but if business doesn't go well, she won't get paid and could be kicked out of her home. Therefore, she must revive the maid cafe, 'Fuwa Fuwa,' and make it a popular establishment.

The next day, Shiro and I, dressed in casual clothes, walked around the electronics district looking for a maid who would work at Fufuwa.

'Electric Town Cafe' is a collaboration with an actual store in '

Ota Road ' in Nihonbashi, Osaka, and you can visit and play in the store. 'Suruga-ya' is a store where you can purchase collectible items such as posters and figurines.

'Super Potato' where you can purchase retro games.

At the card shop 'Dragon Star,' you can purchase fictional card packs.

'Electric Town Cafe' has also collaborated with various indie games, and at Dragon Star you can purchase card packs featuring characters from the shooter game '

Molten Malfusha .' Other collaborations include ' VA-11 Hall-A ' capsule toys, and characters Jasmine and Azami from ' Urban Legend Dismantling Center ' appearing around town.

The cards you win can be viewed as part of your collection, and rare cards can be sold at a pawn shop for a price higher than the pack price.

There are also many other spots in the Electric Town, such as the game center where you can play crane games.

You can increase your favorability by giving the stuffed animals you get to the maids as gifts.

At restaurants such as WakuDonald's, you can recover your fatigue by eating, and you can also work part-time on certain days of the week.

You can get merchandise for 500 yen at capsule toy shops around town.

The items you get can be displayed as part of your collection. Also, if you spin a capsule toy while on a date with the heroine, you can enjoy their reactions, such as exchanging the items you win with each other.

While walking around the electronics district, he met a game-loving gal named Miyu (voiced by Ito Ayasa).

After explaining the situation, Miyu agreed to work as a shop assistant at Fuwa Fuwa. As shown below, the event CG is displayed in the form of a Polaroid camera, a familiar sight at maid cafes.

Now that you have two employees, open Fuwa Fuwa. Enter the waiting room at the back of the store and approach the whiteboard to select 'Management.'

Select 'Business Preparation.'

You need to choose one maid to be in charge of the hall and one to be in charge of the kitchen. Each maid has their own skills, with Shiro being good at serving but not cooking, and Miyu being bad at serving but good at cooking, so assign Shiro to be in charge of the hall and Miyu to be in charge of the kitchen, then press the A button to start running the business.

There are three main actions you will perform while working: taking orders from the masters and mistresses who come to the store, carrying the food from the counter to their seats when it is ready, and returning to the masters and mistresses' seats to take the bill when they leave. Additionally, as you complete your tasks, a 'Charm Service!' gauge will fill up, and when it reaches MAX, pressing the Y button will trigger bonus time, which will increase sales for a set period of time. There is a maid in charge of the dining area, so you don't have to do anything during business hours when you have free time, but as the store's rank increases and more customers come, the manager will have to deal with them himself.

Also, sometimes 'special guests' visit. When a special guest comes, the maids in the hall will not be able to assist them, so the manager will have to go to the counter to assist them.

The visitor on this day was a friend of Miyu's, who came to see what her part-time job was like. When serving special customers, you need to make a drink of their choice according to their request. This time, the request was, 'I want something stylish, cute, and also super sweet.'

I only had three recipes: 'Cafe Latte,' 'Cafe au Lait,' and 'Fluffy Special.' I decided to make the Fluffy Special, which seemed the most stylish. I chose espresso as the base.

Select milk and cinnamon from the refrigerator and press 'Confirm.'

Now that you have created your fluffy special, select 'Serve.'

The fluffy special didn't suit Miyu's friends' tastes. To add more drink recipes, you need to purchase them at the bookstore, and then accurately select the recipe that best suits the customer's request. If you can serve the requested drink, the favorability of the special customer and the heroine involved will increase.

Once business hours are over, the results will be displayed. Approximately 80% of sales will be pooled as operating funds, and approximately 20% will be earned as salary.

You can get a good idea of how to run a maid cafe by watching the video below. You can also hear the voices of the four main heroines in the video.

By saving up management funds, you can 'level up your store.'

By leveling up your store, your 'store title' will be upgraded and the number of customers who visit will increase.

In addition, you can raise the level of your cooking through 'Cooking Development.' As the cooking level increases, the speed at which food is cooked increases slightly, allowing you to increase the turnover rate of your store.

If you succeed in developing a dish, the message 'Dish improvement successful' will be displayed. The success rate will increase if you eat a lot of food in town.

Fuwa Fuwa is closed every Monday, and the maids work every day except for Mondays, so if they work consecutive days they will become 'fatigued.' You cannot start business unless you have one person in the hall and one in the kitchen, so you need to gather more maids.

As the story progresses, the third maid candidate, Fafna (CV: Suzushiro Sayumi), appears.

Also joining the group is Honoka (voiced by Ishikawa Yui), who serves at the shrine located nearby Fuwa Fuwa.

You'll work together with four maids to make the maid cafe Fuwa Fuwa a success, solve various problems that arise in the Electric Town, and go on dates with the maids on your days off, all while enjoying life in the Electric Town and aiming for the ending.

The game is completed by the end of summer. The scenario involves spending over 50 days running a maid cafe, interacting with the maids, and exploring the Electric Town, so it's quite substantial. While the result screen for the 'normal ending' is shown below, if you increase each heroine's favorability by the final day and choose the right options, you'll likely get an ending with each heroine, as well as an additional 'true ending.' Once you complete the first playthrough, you'll enter the 'second playthrough' with all your items (excluding some key story items), money, and store rank intact. This allows you to explore the various aspects of the Electric Town while searching for an ending with a new heroine, all while striving to run a better maid cafe and explore the various aspects of the Electric Town.

However, most of the scenario follows a common route, with only the final version branching off into individual heroine stories. The second playthrough begins immediately after the first two characters, Shiro and Miyu, are gathered, and the remaining two must be re-gathered. Furthermore, at the time of writing, there's no 'text skip' feature; only an 'acceleration mode' makes the game quicker and more responsive. Therefore, tackling the almost daily sales activities and lengthy scenarios on a second or third playthrough will likely take a considerable amount of time. While multiple playthroughs are fine for those who want to thoroughly enjoy the slow, relaxing life spent in the electronics district, those who want to read the scenario efficiently should save their progress at intervals.

'Electric Town Cafe' is available to play on Steam or Nintendo Switch, and costs 2,200 yen on Steam. The Nintendo Switch version will be released on February 26, 2026, with the download version costing 2,480 yen, the regular packaged version costing 3,850 yen, and the limited edition packaged version costing 6,380 yen. The limited edition comes with acrylic stands and plushies of the main characters.
