Uber Autonomous Solutions is a suite of capabilities that delivers the capabilities needed for true end-to-end commercialization of autonomous driving technology, accelerating time to market while lowering cost per mile. It offers comprehensive product development and support, aiming to make autonomous travel more reliable for users and more economical for operators.
'Self-driving technology has incredible potential to make transportation safer and more affordable. Innovation in self-driving technology is moving rapidly, but practical application will take even longer,' said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber Technologies. 'Uber has been setting the standard for on-demand mobility and building the capabilities that make it possible for more than a decade. Through Uber Autonomous Solutions, we're putting these hard-won capabilities to work for our partners.'
Sarfaraz Maledia, Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery at Uber Technologies, explained about Uber Autonomous Solutions, 'Our autonomous technology team should be able to focus on what they do best: building the software that safely powers a self-driving world. Uber Autonomous Solutions is designed to complement our partners' strengths by providing operational depth across all areas needed, including demand generation, rider experience, customer support, and managing the day-to-day challenges of operating a real-world fleet. By connecting our partners to our network, they can scale more efficiently, operate more reliably, and respond faster.'

Uber Autonomous Solutions consists of three areas: Infrastructure, User Experience, and Fleet Operations. How Uber Autonomous Solutions supports autonomous driving development in each area is as follows:
◆ Infrastructure
Self-driving cars can't get on the roads without the right infrastructure, and Uber combines the digital and physical foundations – data, mapping, regulatory access, and funding – to help our partners successfully deploy self-driving technology at scale.
・Autonomous Vehicle 2.0 training data
Uber's data collection fleet includes thousands of specially equipped vehicles across dozens of cities, collecting millions of miles of easily searchable, multi-sensor data across the U.S. and Europe. Working closely with engineers at Uber AV Labs and building on partnerships like its Data Factory with NVIDIA, we help our self-driving vehicle partners train models and scale quickly to Level 4 autonomy.
・Data enrichment mapping
Uber's dynamic geospatial data, based on tens of billions of trips worldwide and its proprietary mapping solution, helps its autonomous vehicle partners pick up passengers, plan routes, and adjust estimated arrival times with real-world accuracy. It can also be used for a variety of purposes, such as avoiding certain intersections during rush hour or reducing fleet-wide risk due to weather or sudden road closures. Custom APIs ensure autonomous vehicles are always in the right place at the right time, even as operational design domains evolve, continuously improving utilization and delivering a superior passenger experience.
Complex venue and event management
Through millions of trips in airports, stadiums, and event venues, Uber has built unique data on the intricacies of these high-traffic environments and how to provide a good experience for passengers. Leveraging existing relationships, Uber can work directly with high-traffic venues like Austin's
・Regulatory support
Uber's Global Policy and Regulatory Support team has the deep experience and trusted relationships needed to bring new technology to markets around the world, essential to the commercialization of autonomous driving technology.
・Fleet finance
Uber's scale and predictable demand can support new models for autonomous vehicle assets and help our partners bring more vehicles and new autonomous form factors to the roads faster.

◆User Experience
Uber's end-to-end user experience is essential for widespread adoption of self-driving cars. With our extensive global network and over a decade of expertise, we help our partners deliver the self-driving products their customers demand.
・In-car experience
Building on best-in-class product design, Uber has developed an in-car, self-driving, vehicle-first software interface that allows passengers to seamlessly access and control sound, temperature, and passenger assistance features. Designed to work across a variety of hardware configurations and deployment environments, this unified experience will provide passengers with a consistent user experience.
Complex use cases
Achieving autonomous driving that meets real-world demand requires a diverse product portfolio. Building on our experience with UberX Share and Uber Reserve, our autonomous driving partners will help us develop new products that deliver the reliability riders expect. We also provide the demand density, supply flexibility, and regulatory support needed to develop these products. Uber is already offering autonomous vehicles through Uber Reserve in Phoenix, Arizona, and has recently announced an autonomous vehicle product with Volkswagen, slated for launch in Los Angeles in late 2026.
End-to-end support
Uber's customer support network is embedded into every step of the trip, giving you real-time support at the tap of a button, from before your trip to after, powered by the same infrastructure that powers over 1 billion trips every month around the world.

◆ Fleet operation
Successful commercialization of autonomous driving requires autonomous vehicle fleets to operate at peak efficiency, and Uber provides depot tools, dedicated autonomous vehicle insurance, and real-time analytics to keep fleet operators informed and minimize disruption to their operations.
・Autonomous vehicle mission control
Uber designed and built a comprehensive fleet intelligence and management solution that gives operators a real-time view of all their vehicles. It translates dozens of status indicators for each autonomous vehicle into system-level insights to keep the fleet efficient, connected, and ready to go. A vehicle delivery state machine continuously ingests telemetry and signals from the autonomous vehicle fleet to determine the exact status of the vehicle. It then uses an intelligent orchestration layer to help prepare possible actions or human interventions. This process is governed by a command authority system that strictly determines who can issue commands, providing a complete delivery history.
・Remote assistance
In an ideal world, autonomous vehicles wouldn't need help. In the real world, Uber will provide real-time on-road assistance to riders when an autonomous vehicle encounters a problem, monitor the situation, and provide real-time communication between the rider and the ADS itself. Additionally, Uber is designing a new remote assistance platform with a custom agent console to build on its end-to-end support capabilities. This platform will provide operators with all the information they need to understand the status of their autonomous vehicles and respond accordingly.
- Field support operating in multiple markets
The Field Support team manages issues that arise in the field, including lost items, towing, manual assistance, cleanup, and alternate trips, helping to keep all operations running smoothly. All issues handled by the Field Support team are visible through the autonomous vehicle mission control, and can leverage the hybrid network when necessary to return lost items via courier or seamlessly dispatch a human driver in the event of inclement weather.
・Autonomous driving vehicle insurance
Uber's industry-first insurance program is built for the reality of autonomous driving. Every aspect of autonomous vehicle deployment requires tailored coverage, whether the vehicle is in operation, at the end of a journey, or charging at a charging station. Uber's autonomous vehicle insurance policy combines protections for manufacturers, ADS providers, owners, fleet managers, and other supporting parties into a simple policy backed by some of the largest names in the insurance industry.

'As autonomous driving advances, translating this incredible technology into scalable services that people can rely on every day in every environment will be a defining challenge for our industry,' said Uber Technologies. 'Uber Autonomous Solutions is built to bridge the gap between groundbreaking technology and ubiquitous services, helping our partners launch services faster, operate more reliably, and scale efficiently, all while delivering the great user experience riders expect from Uber.'
TechCrunch reports that Uber Autonomous Solutions is a new division that aims to handle all aspects of operating its robotaxi, self-driving truck, and delivery robot businesses, including software and support. Furthermore, the company continues to partner with and invest in self-driving technology companies, and as evidenced by Uber Autonomous Solutions, it appears that the company wants to become an integral part of autonomous driving technology.
