The NexPhone concept video was released in September 2012 and received a positive response, but fundraising was difficult and it took a long time to bring it to market. At times, investors even said, 'I don't understand why people buy products other than Apple products.' Now, more than 13 years after the concept video, the company is taking pre-orders for the NexPhone. Shipments are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
The NexPhone looks like this: It basically operates as a 5G-enabled smartphone running Android 16.

Linux can be launched as an app that runs on Android, and you can work in a full Debian environment.

The NexPhone has a dual-boot configuration for Android and Windows, allowing you to select Windows as the boot OS at startup.

It can run the Arm version of Windows 11.

The company has also developed its own UI that resembles the classic Windows Phone, making it comfortable to use even on a smartphone's small screen.

When connected to an external display and keyboard, it can be used just like a PC. Below is a picture of the NexPhone connected to an external display and running Debian.

Of course, it can also run on Android and Windows in a PC-like manner.

The rear camera is a dual-lens configuration consisting of a 64MP main camera using Sony IMX787 and a 13MP ultra-wide camera using Samsung S5K3L6. It also has a 10MP front camera.

It is designed with a focus on strength and is military-grade shock-resistant, waterproof, and dustproof.

It has 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, supports up to 512GB of microSD cards, a 5000mAh battery, and dual SIM support.

It also comes with a 5-port USB hub.

Technology YouTuber Juan Bagnell posted a hands-on video of the NexPhone, showing how it can be used like a Windows PC when connected to an external display, starting at around 7 minutes and 15 seconds into the video. Applications like Excel appear to run smoothly.

The NexPhone will cost $549 (approximately 85,000 yen) and is scheduled to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2026. Pre-order conditions vary by region, and Japan is also available, but it is 'available through a distributor,' so it is unclear when or how much it will be available in Japan.
