The pilot lost consciousness during the flight, but the aircraft's automatic landing system kicked in and the plane landed safely.

It turns out that

an automatic landing system developed by a company called Garmin was activated and an aircraft successfully made an emergency landing.

Garmin's automatic landing system is activated when the system determines that the pilot is unable to control the aircraft or when a passenger presses the activation button. It searches for the best airport for landing, taking into account factors such as runway length, distance, and fuel range, communicates the aircraft's intentions and route to air traffic controllers, and then controls the aircraft to attempt a landing.

On December 20, 2025, the system, installed on a Beech B200 Super King Air aircraft, was discovered to be operational.

The video below shows the interaction between the cockpit and the controller when the Garmin automatic landing system is activated. A robotic female voice announces that the pilot has fainted and calls for an emergency landing at the airport.

An aviation enthusiast managed to capture the aircraft after it landed. According to the enthusiast, he could hear the aircraft's interior voices from about 10 miles away from the airport, and even saw the engines automatically shut down after landing, allowing rescuers to remove the pilot. The enthusiast commented, 'It was amazing to see Garmin's life-saving technology in action up close.'

Garmin said, 'We have confirmed that our systems were operational at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colorado. The landing was successful and we look forward to sharing more details at a later date.'
