In December 2025, Meta notified some test users that 'some users who are not Meta-verified will be limited to two links per month starting December 16th.'
Social media consultant Matt Navarra reported on Threads, 'Facebook is testing a limit on link sharing without a Meta Verified subscription. Some users without Meta Verified will be limited to sharing just two links per month in organic posts! Meta confirmed to me that this is a limited test to understand whether increasing linked posts adds value to Meta Verified subscribers,' along with a screenshot.
According to a person familiar with the test, the number of posts with links allowed is not limited to two per month and varies from account to account. This is not a permanent measure, but rather a test.
Navarra argues that Meta wants to see through this test whether the verification badge acts as an indicator of trust, whether it gives people more confidence in the quality and trustworthiness of links shared by verified accounts, and whether the increased number of possible linked posts increases the value of Meta verification.
Navarra further added, 'The number of linked posts available to Meta verified subscribers will fluctuate during the test period and increase depending on the subscription plan. I understand that only the Max plan will have unlimited linked posts during the test period.'
At the time of writing, the Meta authentication plan fees are $14.99 (approximately 2,300 yen) per month for the 'Standard' plan, $49.99 (approximately 7,790 yen) per month for the 'Plus' plan, $149.99 (approximately 23,400 yen) per month for the 'Premium' plan, and $499.99 (approximately 77,900 yen) per month for the 'Max' plan.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed to Engadget that the company is testing a limit on the number of linked posts. The test affects an unspecified number of creators and Facebook Pages using Facebook's ' Professional Mode ,' but does not currently affect publishers. 'This is a limited test to understand whether being able to publish more linked posts adds value for Meta verified subscribers,' the spokesperson said.
A report released by Meta in December found that linked posts accounted for just 1.9% of Facebook's total views, a significant decrease from 9.8% in 2022 , when the company began providing this statistic. Social Media Today, which reports on social media news, pointed out that this data suggests that limiting linked posts would not make a significant difference to Meta's overall engagement, making it a low-risk approach to increasing the number of Meta-verified subscribers.
