I tried using the Desktop Mate DLC, which lets you display 'Yuzuki Yukari' and 'Akari Tsubasa' on your desktop and enjoy their motions and voices.

Yuzuki Yukari, ' Desktop Mate Yuzuki Yukari DLC,' and the popular VOCALOMAKETS character Akari, ' Desktop Mate Tsubasa Akari DLC,' were released as DLC on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, for Desktop Mate, an app that lets you summon characters onto your PC screen. The 3D models are new and supervised by Ju Ayakura , and the voice recordings are produced by VOCALOMAKETS. I was curious about the appearance and voice, so I gave them a try.

Desktop Mate itself is a free app, but Yuzuki Yukari and Tsubasa Akari are available as paid DLC at the link above. After purchasing the DLC, launch Desktop Mate, right-click on the default character, Aiel-tan , and click 'Change Character.'

A list of available characters will then be displayed. Click on 'Yuzuki Yukari.'

Yukari appeared on my desktop.

The size can be adjusted in 100 steps from 1 to 100.

This is what it looks like in size 1. A small Yukari is standing in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Size 50.

Size 100 is quite large.

The character's position can be adjusted by dragging the mouse. When placed on the window title bar, the character will perform sitting and lying down motions.

I recorded a video of its motions and voices. If you leave it alone, it will show you various motions, and if you click on it or pat its head, it will respond with motions and voices.

It also has an alarm function, and when the time comes, Yukari will get bigger to let you know.

Desktop Mate constantly renders 3D models, which places a considerable load on the GPU. For reference, on a laptop equipped with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 , Desktop Mate's GPU usage was around 65%.

Both 'Desktop Mate Yuzuki Yukari DLC' and 'Desktop Mate Tsubasa Akari DLC' are priced at 2,200 yen (tax included). Desktop Mate has announced its upcoming update plans on the Steam message board, revealing plans to add features such as the ability to allow multiple characters to appear simultaneously and the ability to import VRM files. New compatible characters are also being announced one after another, and the ' Desktop Mate Shigoto Neko DLC, ' which will add the famous 'Yoshi!' character Shigoto Neko, is scheduled for release on Monday, December 15, 2025.
