Appearance review of the world's thinnest folding smartphone 'Find N5', a high-end smartphone equipped with Hasselblad camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite

The Find N5 is a folding smartphone released by OPPO in February 2025, and is characterized by its thinness of 8.93 mm when folded and approximately 4.21 mm when unfolded. In addition, it is equipped with a

The Find N5 package looks like this. The color lineup is 'Cosmic Black' and 'Misty White', and this time I borrowed Misty White. Since the Find N5 does not have technical certification, I applied for the ' Special System for Experiments Using Non-Technical Equipment ' before starting it up.

When I opened the box, the Find N5 was inside in an unfolded state.

In addition to the Find N5 itself, the box contains a dedicated charger, a USB cable, a dedicated cover, a pin to open the SIM card slot, and a quick start guide.

The output of the dedicated charger is 80W. The Find N5 supports OPPO's proprietary fast charging technology 'SUPERVOOC', allowing fast charging using an 80W dedicated charger.

The Find N5 body looks like this.
I turned on the display. The display is an organic EL AMOLED, with a size of 8.12 inches, a resolution of 2480 x 2248 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 2100 nits.

There is a pinhole-type front camera on the top right of the display.

On the back, there is a camera on the left and a display on the right.

The rear cameras were developed in collaboration with Hasselblad and include a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

When you close the screen, the display on the back lights up and you can use it just like a normal vertical smartphone. You can see how to close and open the Find N5 screen in the video below.
When the display on the back is turned on, it looks like this. The type of display is the same as the inside, OLED AMOLED, with a size of 6.62 inches, a resolution of 2616 x 1140 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 2450 nits.

There is also an in-camera at the top of the rear display.

When unfolded and viewed from the side, it looks like this. It is 4.21mm thick, and the volume control and power buttons are lined up on the side.

On the opposite side is a slide switch for switching to silent mode.

There is a USB Type-C port and a SIM card slot on the bottom. The USB standard is USB 3.1 Gen 2.

There are no buttons or ports on the top.

The hinge part in the folded state looks like this.

The other side. When folded, the thickness is 8.93mm.

The actual weight is 235g.

When you shine a light on the display, you can see that it is warped in the center.

Even when the display is on, the deflection becomes visible when light is shone on it.

If the light is not hitting it directly, you won't see any bending at all.

The viewing angle of the display is the same as that of a typical smartphone. In the video below, you can see how the display looks from different angles.
The folding angle of the Find N5 can be adjusted steplessly, and it can also be fixed in a laptop-like state without being fully opened. However, once it is opened to a certain extent, the hinges force it to open all the way, so the degree of freedom in the angle when using it in laptop state is low.
It's hard to keep OPPO's foldable smartphone 'Find N5' open like a laptop and keep it fixed - YouTube
Below is the screen opened as far as it can go. It's at a nearly right angle, so it's hard to see the display when you look down on it from above.

The display's surface material is a combination of ultra-thin glass and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) on the inside, and ultra-thin nano-crystal glass on the outside. I tried scratching both displays with a coin, and there was no scratch.
The Find N5 is waterproof to IPX6/IPX8/IPX9 standards. I tested it by exposing it to shower water for about five minutes, and it worked without any problems.

The OS is a customized version of Android called ColorOS, which allows you to use Android apps. The UI has been heavily customized from the original Android, and it also has a feature similar to the iOS control center, where you can pull from the top right to the bottom left of the display to adjust brightness, volume, and other settings. If you compare the Find N5 (left) with the adjustment screen displayed and the iPhone 16 (right) with the control center displayed, the UI is quite similar.
