Reddit introduces the ability to block ads from advertisers you dislike for a year

by
Reddit, an online bulletin board, introduced ' freeform ads ' in March 2024, which allow ads to be delivered in the same appearance as regular posts. However, sometimes irrelevant or inappropriate ads are displayed. In order to prevent users from leaving the site due to the display of such unpleasant ads, Reddit has announced that it will introduce 'the ability to hide ads from specific advertisers for one year.'

Below is a screenshot of the ad-hiding button shown by Reddit developer cozy_sheets. When you find an unwanted ad, you can click 'Hide' in the menu to hide ads from that advertiser for one year. The ad-hiding feature will be added to the Reddit website and iOS/Android apps in the coming weeks.

The word 'Ad hidden' will be displayed in the place where the hidden ad was displayed.
Also, if you find an ad that you believe violates Reddit's advertising policy , you can report it to the Reddit management team by clicking 'Report'. Clicking 'Report' will also hide the ad for one year.
However, there seems to be a limit to the number of ads that can be hidden, and one user reported seeing a notification that said 'You've reached your daily limit for hiding ads.' Reddit did not reveal the specific criteria for the limit.
