In a blog post dated March 3, 2025, Google announced that it will participate in the technology trade fair ' MWC Barcelona 2025 ' to be held in Barcelona, Spain from March 3 to March 6, and will have an interactive exhibit that demonstrates how AI built into its mobile operating system, Android, can be useful in everyday life.

'We're also unveiling new live video and screen sharing capabilities for Gemini Live, which will roll out to Gemini Advanced subscribers as part of the Google One AI premium plan on Android devices later this month.'

Google has released a demo video on YouTube of the live video and screen sharing features that will be added to Gemini Live. The demo video of the live video feature is below.

While filming the pottery, the user tells Gemini Live, 'I just fired this vase and two other pieces.'

Then he showed me the glazes next to him and asked, 'Which glaze do you think would best suit

a midcentury modern look?'

Gemini suggests that 'olive green or muted blue' would work best for a midcentury modern look.

When a user asked Gemini which glaze they had best, the app replied that the olive green one in the bottom row on the far left was the best. In this way, the new feature allows users to take pictures of their surroundings with their camera and ask questions based on what they see.

In response, technology media Android Police said, 'You have to wonder how useful it is for Gemini Live to choose the colors for your artwork. Is this really a useful feature?' It questioned how Gemini removes human skill from the art-making process.

Here's a demo video of the screen sharing feature.

A user viewing a pants product page on an online shopping site calls up Gemini Live.

'Do you have any outfit ideas to go with these pants?' I asked Gemini.

Gemini responded, 'It would go well with a simple white T-shirt or a fitted black turtleneck.'

The user further asked, 'I like turtlenecks, but what kind of jacket should I wear? It's too loose around the legs.'

Gemini responds by saying, 'A denim jacket or

a bomber jacket (a leather flight jacket with a fur collar) will look cool and casual.'

Android Police pointed out that the demo video raises the question of why the user would need to ask Gemini Live about a page that already had an AI-generated product description. They also pointed out that the user had to say 'the legs are loose' out loud, which they argued shows that Gemini Live is not able to properly interpret the product on the screen.

Google also offers a feature called ' Talk about files, images, and YouTube videos ' for Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S24/S25 only. Users can talk to Gemini about saved images, photos they have taken, the contents of YouTube video subtitles, and uploaded files. The file formats supported for uploading to Gemini Live are 'TXT', 'DOC', 'DOCX', 'PDF', 'RTF', and 'HWP'.
