The iOS version of the Google app allows you to access Google search and Google news, as well as Gemini, Google's AI chatbot. At the time of writing, the iOS version of the Google app allows you to select 'Gemini' as follows.

According to Google-related news site 9to5Google, Google has notified iPhone and iPad users that 'Gemini will no longer be available in the Google app. We're making some changes to make the Gemini experience on iOS even better. Gemini is now available as its own app, which is the best place to use it. To continue using Gemini, download the new Gemini app from the App Store.'
TechCrunch, an IT news site, said, 'Google will now be able to compete more directly with AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplecity,' but also pointed out the risk that this change could reduce Gemini's reach.

Google has also announced a revamp of Google Lens for the iOS version of the Google app and Google Chrome.
