OpenAI CEO mentions the planned release of 'GPT-4.5' and 'GPT-5', GPT-4.5 is the last non-inference model and GPT-5 will integrate multiple technologies



OpenAI CEO Sam Altman spoke about the planned release of the next-generation AI models ' GPT-4.5 ' and ' GPT-5 .'




According to CEO Altman, OpenAI is preparing GPT-4.5 as its next product to be released. GPT-4.5 will be OpenAI's last 'non-chain-of-thought model.'

OpenAI's current goal is to integrate the traditional 'GPT series' with the 'o series' specialized for inference, and GPT-5 will be a model that integrates multiple technologies including OpenAI o3 . In addition, it has been revealed that OpenAI o3 will not be released as a standalone model in the future.

GPT-5 is planned to be available to ChatGPT free users, who will be able to chat unlimitedly without being deemed abusive. ChatGPT Plus subscribers will have access to GPT-5's advanced intelligence, while ChatGPT Pro subscribers will have access to even more advanced intelligence.

In addition to the above information, CEO Altman revealed that GPT-4.5 was internally called 'Orion'. The existence of Orion has been reported for some time, and in October 2024, reports spread that 'OpenAI plans to release Orion in December 2024', which caused a commotion that OpenAI denied.

If we read CEO Altman's reply correctly, it could be interpreted as meaning 'GPT-4.5 will be released in a few weeks and GPT-5 will be released in a few months,' but it's possible that he was just dodging the answer.
