The connector looks like this: The cable is made by MODDIY and was used for two years before upgrading to the RTX 5090.

The other side is burnt. ivan6953 claims that he 'made sure to insert both the GPU side and the PSU side until it clicked.'

The power supply unit side was also not unscathed, with damage to the connector.

Of course, the connector on the GPU side is also damaged.

MODDIY, the manufacturer of the cable, posted in

the comments section of Reddit that 'the possibility of a defective cable can be ruled out because it has been in use for two years since manufacture. ' In addition, MODDIY evaluated NVIDIA, which manufactured the GPU, and ASUS, which manufactured the power supply unit, as 'reliable companies that will honor warranty replacement requests,' and asked ivan6953 to apply for a replacement from NVIDIA and ASUS, while offering to cover the repair costs if NVIDIA and ASUS decline to respond.

At the time of writing, NVIDIA has not released any statement regarding the RTX 5090 cable melting issue.

When NVIDIA's previous model, the RTX 4090, was released in 2022, there was also a cable melting issue, where the cable melted during use, but an investigation revealed that the problem was with the cable.
