In the United States, the 'Protecting Americans from Applications Controlled by Foreign Adversaries Act,' commonly known as the ' TikTok Ban Act ,' came into effect on January 20, 2025, making TikTok unavailable for download from the App Store and Google Play in the United States. After that, President Donald Trump, who became the 47th President of the United States, signed an executive order suspending enforcement of the TikTok Ban Act for 75 days, but the future of TikTok in the United States is unclear.

Meta, wanting to take advantage of TikTok's uncertainty, is rolling out a 'Breakthrough Bonus Program' to attract TikTok creators to its platform. Meta has also changed the format of its Instagram profile grid from a square to a rectangular one , and extended the maximum length of each video from 90 seconds to 3 minutes.
In addition, Meta announced a mobile video editing app called 'Edits' to compete with TikTok's video editing app 'CapCut' on January 20, 2025. This series of updates and new apps are believed to be aimed at TikTok creators.
