Getty Images is a stock photo site that distributes and sells stock photos. By hiring famous photographers and having exclusive partnerships with the International Football Association (FIFA), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the PGA Tour, and others, the company offers exclusive materials that other companies cannot find.

However, over the past year, the company has struggled to retain customers due to the impact of generative AI and other factors, and it has been revealed that as a solution, it is considering a merger with Shutterstock, one of its largest rivals in the United States.
Getty Images accounts for 32% of the market share of stock photo sites, and Shutterstock is also a major player, so news site Bloomberg points out that ``if the merger talks go through, it will be subject to rigorous antitrust scrutiny.''

However, there is also indication that businesses are optimistic that regulations will be relaxed under President-elect Trump.
The plan was revealed in Getty Images' annual report, and since it is still under consideration, merger negotiations may not take place.
Getty Images and Shutterstock have not commented on the matter.
