What works will be on the covers of anime magazines in 2024? A summary of the annual covers of Newtype, Animage, and Animedia
As part of my annual end-of-year cleaning, I came across the January to December 2024 issues of three anime magazines: Newtype, Animage, and Animedia, so I decided to line up what works graced their front and back covers.
We've lined up the January to December issues of each magazine side by side.

The list of covers for 'Newtype' looks like this, and includes 12 works: ' Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 3 ,' ' SPY×FAMILY CODE: WHITE the Movie, ' ' Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ,' ' The Five Star Stories ,' ' Dungeon Meshi ,' ' Kaiju No. 8 ,' ' Sound! Euphonium 3 ,' 'Oshi no Ko,' ' Theatrical Compilation Botchi the Rock! Re:Re:, ' ' Kimi no Iro ,' ' Ranma 1/2 ,' and ' Dandadan .'
The spine looks like this. The issue color for 2025 was red. The prices were 900 yen (tax included) for the January, April, May, and November issues, and 880 yen (tax included) for the February, March, June to October, and December issues.

The back cover looks like this. Except for the Anime Grand Prix announcement in August, the style is to list only one featured work name.
The list price is 1100 yen including tax. The January and February issues were the list price, the March to September and November issues were the special price of 1150 yen, and the October and December issues were the special price of 1200 yen.

The spine looks like this. It includes the names of up to three works, such as the opening feature, cover, and double cover.
In 2024, all issues will be sold at a special price: the January issue will be 1,070 yen (tax included), the February to June issues and the August to December issues will be 1,100 yen (tax included), and the July issue will be 1,200 yen (tax included).
When you line up all the issues it looks like this.
In March 2024, 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM' appeared on the cover of three magazines at the same time. However, since the cover concepts are different for each magazine, the impression they give is different.
In 2024, the works that appeared most frequently on the front and back covers were 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM' and 'Touken Ranbu: Kaiden: The Close Samurai' three times each, and 'Blue Lock: Episode Nagi' and 'Blue Lock vs. U-20 JAPAN' from the same series also appeared a total of three times.

I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of work will grace the cover in 2025, and whether there will be a work that takes over the cover of all magazines.
The January 2025 issue of Monthly Newtype includes an interview with the main staff of 'ONE PIECE FAN LETTER'.
