According to research firm Datum Intelligence, annual sales of India's quick commerce industry were $100 million (about 15 billion yen) in 2020, but are expected to exceed $6 billion (about 910 billion yen) in 2024. As a result, traditional e-commerce companies such as Amazon are being forced to transform their businesses.

On December 10, 2024, Samir Kumar, Country Manager of Amazon India, announced, 'Amazon will launch a pilot program to give customers the option to get 5,000 to 6,000 everyday items within 15 minutes.' He also said, 'Amazon's strategy has always been focused on 'choice, value, and convenience,' and our vision is to build a large, profitable business in India. We aim to achieve our strategy of providing the fastest, greatest choice and greatest value to our customers.'

According to Amazon, the quick commerce service on Amazon will be launched on a trial basis in Bengaluru, India from the end of December 2024, and then expanded to other cities. 'Amazon already has millions of customers across India, including many Prime members, who will be looking forward to these convenient quick commerce services,' Kumar said.
