Review of the 'VAIO SX14-R' - a lightweight, robust laptop weighing less than 1kg packed with the power to help with mobile work
I was able to borrow the new model ' VAIO SX14-R ' that VAIO announced in the fall of 2024, so I decided to play around with it a bit.

The outer box looked like this.
Inside are two grey inner boxes.
Each package contained a VAIO SX14-R and an AC adapter. The color was a new deep emerald.
The top plate has the 'VAIO' logo.
The front looks like this with the top panel closed. There is something like a slide switch, but it is a webcam shutter that is unrelated to the opening and closing of the top panel.
On the right side of the device, there is an earphone jack, a USB Type-A terminal, an HDMI terminal, a priority LAN terminal, and a USB Type-C terminal. The USB Type-C terminal supports USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 connections.
When you connect the LAN cable, it looks like this.
The back side. There are no terminals.
There are a pair of small protrusions on each side.
When the top is opened, the rear of the unit lifts up, and the protrusion mentioned above comes into contact with the floor instead of the top.
This is how the top plate operates when opened and closed.
There is also a USB Type-C terminal and a USB Type-A terminal on the left side, next to which is an exhaust vent.
There are two rubber feet on the front side of the bottom. There is no opening.
When you open the top panel, it looks like this. The display is anti-glare, so there is no reflection of the light.
A webcam is built into the center of the top bezel.
By closing the sliding shutter, you can rest assured that the camera will not turn on unintentionally.
The keyboard part looks like this. The power button is separate on the top right. There are Ctrl and Alt keys, one on each side, and a Copilot key.
The actual weight of the main body is 994g.
The AC adapter weighed 194g.
