'DMM Voice', which converts text input into emotive voice by AI, has been reborn as 'Niji Voice', so I tried using it

On November 1, 2024,

the closed beta version of ' DMM Voice ', a voice generation service that allows you to input text and have AI read it aloud with realistic acting, was released. Despite being released as a closed beta, DMM Voice attracted a lot of attention, and the service was forced to be temporarily suspended just one week after its release. DMM Voice was reborn as ' Niji Voice ' and re-released on November 20 , so I tried it out to see what kind of voices it could actually create.

To use Niji Voice, click 'Start for free' on the top page. At the time of writing, Niji Voice can be used for free without creating an account or logging in.

It's easy to use, just select a character, enter the text you want to generate in the text box on the right side of the screen, and click 'Generate & Play.' In addition, by rebranding from DMM Voice to Niji Voice, the number of selectable characters has increased from 20 to 35, and the character limit for voice conversion has been expanded from 70 to 140 characters.

Click 'Generate & Play' and then click the black download button at the bottom to download the generated audio. The audio file will be output in WAV format.

Below is a video of the 35 characters available in Niji Voice saying 'Gigajin.' You can see that there are many characters with unique voices.

When I actually tried it, I found that for longer sentences, the voice output sounded like someone was speaking very quickly. In such cases, you can try adding punctuation marks, exclamation marks, question marks, etc. to convert the voice into a more realistic, more rhythmic speech, so please try it out.

Harada, CEO of Algomatic Global, the company that develops NijiVoice, explained the reason for changing the service's name in a blog post, saying, 'Our company name is Algomatic Global, but our goal is to create a generative AI company that can compete on the world stage. As an approach, we are betting on the future to create a global service using voices originating from Japan. The DMM name is honestly big and easily leads to recognition, but what we aim to do from now on is to create a huge company that surpasses even DMM. We will now take on the world with our own unique brand as NijiVoice.'

NijiVoice will be available for free until December 4, 2024, but it will become a paid service when the official version is released on December 4, so if you're interested, try it out as soon as possible.
