A system software update for PS Portal will be distributed on November 20, 2024. This update will improve the audio experience and release a beta version of the 'cloud streaming function' that many users have requested. With this cloud streaming function, PS Portal will be able to play games streamed directly from the server without going through the PS5 console.
However, the cloud streaming feature is only available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, and only select PS5 titles included in the PlayStation Plus Premium catalogue can be played.
Please note that the cloud streaming feature is still in an experimental phase, so 'available features may change during the beta and may differ from the final experience.'
The features available during the beta are as follows:
◆Streaming of compatible PS5 titles included in the PlayStation Plus game catalog
- You can play more than 120 PS5 titles included in the PlayStation Plus game catalogue via cloud streaming on PS Portal, including Ghost of Tsushima, Dave the Diver, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Monster Hunter Rise.
◆Streaming at up to 1080p/60fps
◆Various functions of the DualSense wireless controller
-Haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, speakers, touchpad (emulated with the PS Portal touchscreen), motion sensors, and more are available.
◆PlayStation Plus cloud storage
- Save data and game progress can be stored up to 100GB. It will automatically sync with your PS5, allowing you to seamlessly switch between local and streaming gameplay and across multiple devices.
To use the cloud streaming function on PS Portal, simply enable 'Streaming Games (Beta)' in 'Settings' after updating the latest software. In order to use the cloud streaming function, the following conditions must be met:
・PlayStation Portal Remote Player
-PlayStation Network account
-PlayStation Plus Premium membership (valid for the current period)
・Broadband Internet connection (Establishing a cloud streaming session: 5Mbps or more required for both upload and download.
720p streaming: 7Mbps or higher required, 1080p streaming: 13Mbps or higher required)
Please note that because the PS Portal's cloud streaming function is in the testing phase, game trials, streaming of games purchased from the PS Store, system functions such as voice chat and game invites in some games, the create button, 3D audio, in-game purchases, etc. will not be available.
In addition, at the time of writing, streaming games that can be played on PS Portal are limited to titles for PS5, and streaming of titles for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 3 (PS3) is not supported.
