DAISY, which was created using cutting-edge AI technology, is able to talk to scammers in real time without any external input. By appropriately coordinating multiple AI models according to what the scammer is saying, DAISY has achieved a level of quality that is almost indistinguishable from a real human, and there have been many scammers who have continued talking for over 40 minutes.

Daisy has been introduced to the fraud prevention team as a 'fraudster response officer,' and her role is to prolong conversations with fraudsters as much as possible to waste their time and give them no time to deceive real people. Of course, since it's an AI, it can handle multiple fraudsters at the same time. The image by Virgin Media O2 is as follows.

Virgin Media O2 says Daisy has been up and running for several weeks, engaging scammers in lengthy stories about their fictitious family and their passion for knitting, as well as providing them with fake bank details and fake personal information, and that it is

working to uncover common scam tactics.

Here's how to avoid being scammed by Virgin Media O2:

- Pause
If you receive a sudden phone call and are asked to take some action, it is important to think for a moment whether the call is genuine, regardless of who the caller is. If the caller asks for personal information, a PIN number, or a one-time password, it is highly likely to be a scam. It is best to hang up the phone and call the police hotline ( #9110 ) for advice.

Talk to people around you
Talking to your friends and family about scams can help reduce the chances of being caught off guard.

Other characteristics of scam calls, according to Virgin Media O2, include 'having your bank account details and one-time passwords read out,' 'instructing you to ignore security warnings,' and 'pressuring you to make a decision.'

In Japan, a total of 2,371 cases of fraud occurred in Tokyo alone between January and September 2024, with the total amount of damage amounting to approximately 8.293 billion yen .
