Apple will

release battery replacement instructions for the iPhone 16 in September 2024, allowing anyone to repair their own iPhone. However, a special repair kit is required to perform the repair. Therefore, Apple also offers the option to rent a repair kit for 7 days for $49 (about 7,500 yen).

The provision of repair parts is limited to some countries and regions, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy, and is not available in Japan at the time of writing. Apple also states that the program is 'intended for individuals with experience in repairing complex electronic devices.'
